I think the development of our linebackers is the most important thing for our defense. So with that being said I'll hop on the Butler bandwagon.

Yeah, I don't think we go right to the 34. I think we transition to it. That's what he did in Arizona. They went 43/hybrid his first two years then went to the 34 full-time.

A slow transition would make most sense. The Hybrid look can definitely benefit us. And Dman, good point about Butler -- imagine if he had Ayers & Brown playing at the level we know they are capable of.

Hey now if he ever gets some info it would be nice to hear. Maybe just change the avatar and replace "uncle" with "source".

I want LeBeau's protege, and that would be Butler for sure. He's been with them for a long time and has been their LB coach, so he'll help bring out the best from our crop. He's also next in line to take over for the famous LeBeau, so I think he's going to be great or they wouldn't have dubbed him as next-in-line (regardless I think they block him again, he's already been blocked twice in the past, I don't see them changing their stance.)

If not Butler, then I hope we get Horten or Williams. Ray has done wonders for ARI in such a short time, their D is vastly improved with Bowles which Horten set him up for (?). As for our ex-assistant Williams, he has already gotten good results from our D (EVEN though he was never calling the shots directly, just his influence and him being around made us better - he deserves a shot in his own right assuming Ken is OK with him.)

In order I want, Butler first, than Gregg, than I guess Horten (but i'd rather have Bowles tbh, still not sold on Horten actually).

As for OC, since Ken will be calling plays I really don't care about OC. I'd just want someone who he can get along with and help develop the young WRs (since Jeffy is gone).

I agree...it'll take a year alone to fix all the things Chet ruined.

Horton coached a tremendously effective, physical and attacking Steelers secondary during that team's recent Super Bowl years. Got a lot more out of the Cardinals defense than anyone probably should have during his time there, and set them up for even more success in the future (I think it's notable that the Cardinals defense was even better this year under Bowles and without Horton, because I give Horton a lot of credit for building the foundation). Got more out of the Browns defense than he probably should have, too.

It's all non-stats stuff, basically. Maybe it's not even entirely rational.
