I personally do not like the decision of getting Jason Michael for OC. Although Walker did have his best year here yards wise this season, I think a better OC would have been to promote Jefferson. With Jefferson, he has worked with the unit, and has turned our wide receivers into young stars, without even having a stable QB. Hiring Michael makes Whiz out to sound like Munchak and wanting to hire friends...not a good way to start your coaching tenure in Tennessee!

Good move by the Whiz, you want an OC that's going to be on the same page as the HC calling plays. Not someone with different philosophies or ideas more drastic than Whiz. He may not be well known to us but from what I've been able to dig up he seems to be a good coach and him and Whiz know what they want to do on offense. Hard to not like this move unless you just wanted a big name, and who would come here knowing they weren't calling plays?

I kind of agree with this... He's tall, fast, but haven't seen him block tbh (probably didn't pay attention) but his hands are really killing his opportunities.

Totally agree. As an OC you would typically want to call your own plays, but with an offensive minded coach (finally something different!) you want the philosophies to be parallel with each other, same with the Lovie Smith type and his DC. It's only turmoil when people clash, last thing we need.

As long as his game plan isn't "run CJ up the middle every 1st and 2nd down, and possibly 3rd too" we are already better off. Sounds like he had quite a bit of input in SDs offense... hopefully they see that when Loggains actually flipped a page in the old playbook and let loose a little, this team actually moved the ball pretty well. Too bad it was always with 2 mins left in the game and we just lost the lead.

A guy with 2 years experience with Norv turner and 1 with Whisenhunt.

But Turner was more of an air Coryell guy and Whisenhunt uses the Erhardt-Perkins system.

Different terminology and Erhardt-Perkins is a bit more balanced.

I'm OK with this based on what Whiz said. He feels this guy is a smart and up-and-coming coach. I guess he attributes a lot to him helping him get the Chargers O go from bottom of the league to top 5.

Also, his ability to communicate game plans is really important as that is what he will be doing for the first couple years with Whiz calling plays and making the plans.

I imagine Whiz feels like Michael is someone he can eventually delegate play calling to (again in a couple years when he gets his system up and running). I'm very OK with this.

Now for DC, get me Butler or Horten and I'm happy with the direction this team is going.

This is really no surprise. Whiz said on his first presser, that he would call the plays. That means the OC would be someone he knew quite well.
