Charlie Whitehurst agrees to terms with Titans

That still makes no sense. We also have Tyler Wilson. We don't even own a third round pick at this point. Nothing about this says we are drafting a qb. If anything we are putting more confidence in Locker. Agree or disagree about Locker being a capable starter, this move only secures that position for Locker even more than before.

 

Everything about this says we are drafting a qb. Tyler Wilson is nothing but a project the old staff had. There is a reason he was on the raiders practice squad all year. He isn't even in the conversation as anything than at best the number 3. Fitz will be cut. Locker and CW won't be the only two qbs on the roster that could play. Locker is starter unquestionable, but they are going to want someone else that can possible start.

 

If there is one thing locker is capable of it is being injured.

 

So what was the point in getting CW if he isn't going to be the backup and we are going to draft a QB? If we were going to draft a QB then we wouldn't have signed a backup QB and would have released Fitz anyway.. IMO

 

apparently so we can save a WHOPPING 1 million dollars. (which is HUGE for NFL standards)

 

It's a bit of a puzzling move, but it does save a little $ & CW will help Jake better than Fitzy could have (learn the system).

We should still draft a QB in the later rounds making this/Fitzy pretty irrelevant.

If Fitzy or CW had to play during the season, we are doomed anyway. Only difference is Fitzy may go 7-9 whereas CW may go 5-11.... most of u would want the latter for the better pick anyway.

 

The best thing to happen this offseason so far is signing Pollard to a new contract, and that still isn't saying much.

 

Give me one big name young guy and then I will be happy. The rest we can work through the draft.

 

Bringing in a cheaper back up that knows the system does not mean they will draft a QB! It means they brought in a cheaper back up to help Locker transition. It makes sense to have a back up that already knows the system and he just so happens to be cheaper. Hasn't this happened every offseason since Locker has been in the league? I was hoping Fitz could stick around Wiz could cut down the interceptions... either way, most teams know that if the starter goes down for an extended period, the back up isn't going to win it all.
