Has the contract structure been divulged? If the $9.5 million includes a significant 2nd-year roster bonus (like $5-6 million) then it would be more pallettable. Effectively it could be 1 year at $5 million with the Titan's option for 3 more at $15 million. Still too much, IMO, but with a 3-year option, he'd be worth more than $2.5 million on a pure 1-year deal.

Dumervil's contract allowed the Ravens to walk away after 1 season for $8.5 million.

again hes replacing a guy that was only servicable the last couple of seasons, when Big Country could take the field that is.

Titans do not have to draft an OT so it saves a draft pick and if Oher only makes it a couple of seasons as a Titans it is still gonna be around average NFL lineman CAP over that time. If the change of scenery is good for Oher the Titans get a good CAP deal for 4 years.

worth a shot with almost no downside

Lost a lot of respect for Rotoworld after their almost childish reaction to this deal.

As a RT there is no reason to believe Oher will suck, in 2011 he had a decent season at RT

Maybe, just maybe Oher will be motivated to prove his worth. He's back in his home state and I'm sure will play in front of family and friends at every home game. I'm hoping he don't suck! A diamond in the rough even?

Yeah your assessment of him seems to be pretty dead on to thins point so I expect to see some pretty bad play in the second half of the season. You're also right when you say he has to hold his blocks longer. From what I've noticed he almost always "wins" at the snap and after the rusher makes his first move but then he gets over-confident and the rusher is able to adjust and get away from him. He also gets bull rushed more than I expected. That being said I think a HUGE part of Oher's problem was Flacco holding on to the ball FOREVER. Like I've seen plays when the entire OL block well but because Flacco is sitting there playing patty cake the OL just can't hold their blocks that long. It's just like how even the best CB can only cover for so long. If we implement a system that gets the ball out of the QB's hands quickly I think Oher can be a very strong piece for us.

My whole point is simply that PFF is not the end all, be all. To declare someone a good or bad signing based solely on a PFF grade is a bit ludicrous IMO. But to each his own I guess.

I actually like their methodology and think it's pretty accurate. I think if we took the time to take a look at the instances in which their ratings seem to contradict each other we could probably figure out why it's happening.
