    From Walter:

[IMG] Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
    40 Time: 4.69.
    Projected Round (2014): 1-2.

3/29/14: Sources have told WalterFootball.com that Carr is the most natural passer in the 2014 NFL Draft and his stock is on the rise. There are more teams that are excited about Carr than other more highly touted quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater or Johnny Manziel.

Carr played well at the Senior Bowl. Sources told WalterFootball.com that they think Carr is worthy of a first-round pick, and there are enough teams that like him that he could go in the top 10.

Carr was tremendous in carrying Fresno State to a two-loss season in 2013. He was clutch in the fourth quarter and overtime to push his team to wins over Rutgers and Boise State. The senior was excellent in his decision-making while showing a strong arm with good field vision. Carr has a powerful arm and is a developed pocket passer. However, he also beat up on a weak schedule.

In 2013, Carr completed 69 percent of his passes for 5,083 yards with 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions. It looked like he was playing seven-on-seven football with the way he threaded the ball in all levels of the defense and took what the defenders are giving him. That changed against USC in Carr's bowl game when the Trojans' defense rattled him with pressure and forced him into some mistakes and missed throws.

Carr does not have the statistical distortions that Blaine Gabbert had at Missou. He didn't get rid of the ball too quickly to miss out on some big plays down field and he was outstanding in the red zone while Gabbert struggled as the field got tighter.

Carr shouldn't be downgraded because of the offense he played in, he should be appreciated more. He averaged 8 yards an attempt despite throwing a lot of short screens and slants and i think that having to get the ball out quick like that will ultimately help him in the nfl. Certainly more than some big armed QB who was used to 7 step drops in college.

They said some of the same things about Cam Newton and he adapted with no problem and Carr throwing from center snaps was almost perfect on his pro day.

Simply the most polished passer and the best arm in this draft.

I'm behind Carr. I just think his game will translate well to the NFL level. I don't care who his brother is.

I like Carr, but even 11 is early for him imo and I think it'll be a mistake if a top 8 team takes him before Bridgewater.

What's this about Aaron Murray vs South Carolina in '12? how about his latest game vs South Carolina where he was amazing? Or vs LSU, another dominant performance.

Because RT is an idiot who can barely form a sentence. That was a terrible comparison on his part.

If kaepernick can fix his feet/arm mechanics I think Carr can. Given the right situation. I would instantly force him to throw many many contested balls in practice. Make use of his arm. Get him away from always going to the screen and check down.

He is best doing zone/area reads where multiple routes cross his eyes. He often makes the correct read or checks down to the same side read. That can cross over.

His fade is a great quality but I don't like his constant 50/50 balls.

He might take a year to change his mechanics but I would draft him at 11

Wow, you've really come around on the guy. I remember not too long ago you wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft. pole because he was Gabbert-like. What made you warm up to him?

Mainly just considering WHAT his flaws are. They are the fixable ones. More info has come out about his ability to read defenses as well, his brother definitely helped pass on knowledge.

The thing I'm curious to see growth is dealing with pressure in the pocket.. Mechanics can get polished. He's accurate enough..

Comparing him to what's on the board... He's most likely the 3rd qb selected. Wouldn't hurt my feelings to give him a shot. Fales on the later rounds would interest me as well... But different arms. Completely different an it showed massively at the senior bowl. Same with jimmy g.

Because another poster, not me, bashed Carr over his performance in one particular game and said he was not a 1st rd prospect because of it. Stay with the gist of the conversation i'm the one who argued agsinst that beief and used Murray's horrible game against Carolina as an example.
I also mentioned Manning's poor game in the super bowl.
When you have a player with dozens of starts in his college career you don't judge him on one or two bad games.
