    History tells us this.....

The majority of the top Qbs were drafted in the top 20 picks. When a QB drops out of the first rd his chances of success falls dramatically and once a QB falls to the 4th rd or beyond you might as well not bother. It's pure luck after that.

Some of you might cream your pants at the thought of getting Murray in the 4th rd but why would he not fall that far? He is the 9th or 10th best QB in this draft and in a typical year 10-11 QBs get drafted. Murray might not even be drafted!

That's San Diego's fault. They could have used the top pick in the 2004 draft for Larry Fitzgerald and kept Brees and had one of the best passing games in nfl histry. The saints sure didn't think Brees was a bust.

I didn't see it that way.

NO took a chance on Brees after that terrible shoulder injury - his throwing arm. Many were saying he'd never be the same.

Of course, they were right... he became better. It was a risky move by NO, frankly.

It's meaningless to the discussion. The fact is that Brees a future a hall of famer did not start a game as a rookie. So don't draft a player who can be great some day just because he mnight not start on day one? That's retarded and if they are willing to take a guy with the 11th pick that means they believe he can be great some day.

Just because the chargers didn't realize what a valuable guy they had doesn't change that.

It's not completely meaningless... In essence, I was agreeing with what you said about rookies not starting. Brees is an example... that you brought up.

He didn't start his first year... was Ok after that, but many argued he wasn't a quality QB... but he managed to become elite, eventually.

I agreed with what you stated and added to it.

You are correct. No 4th round QBs in the last few years have been excellent QBs. Nick Foles was drafted 88th and has been stellar and of course Wilson was drafted 75th. We do not need to draft a QB in the first round, as is stated in the post you quoted. I believe Murray is a better quarterback than you and many others give him credit for. He would be a steal in the 4th round if he is there. Again, that is just my opinion.

I'd be "meh" with that. I'm really not sold on Locker as a QB, chances we find a QB in the 4th is slim.

I think Murray is the guy. Not considered top tier but is a baller . Wont cause much controversy for Jake but if Jake goes down he'll come in with some swagger and who knows? He seems to have sound judgement, confidence and leadership abilities. I think he's a great pick for us , too bad we don't have a 3rd rounder. :shakehead:

I really like Aaron Murray and think he goes earlier than the 4th. Shame we don't have a 3rd. His stock will rise at his upcoming pro day. Book it.
