I am NOT saying he didn't have a good run with all the 1000yd seasons. What I am saying is there are some on here that act like he is the only one who can get 1000yds in a season and that's not true.

So basically the same thing we did last year then? Just a little more slanted since there's no real #1, Green and Battle had about 30% of the carries, now they'll get a combined 30 or so carries between them throughout the year?

If Greene and Battle combined had about another 30 carries the formula you posted would be accurate.

Last year it was CJ 17, Green 5, Battle 2 on average carries per game. Taking 3-4 carries in a game and giving it to the backups is considered RBBC as well as a "change in philosophy?"

I agree. It's only a true RBBC until one guy distinguishes himself from the others, then he gets the lion's share of the carries while the other 2 or 3 kinda fight over what's left. Brian Westbrook started out as a RBBC member until he outshone Buckhalter and Staley. Ironically enough he ended up being the sole feature back for a little while.

If we don't draft an impact rookie RB our running game will be screwed. We absolutely cannot miss with this RB pick.

Not really. Battle only got carries in 6 games. And Greene only got double-digit carries in 2 games all season long. IMO what we had last year was a true "workhorse" situation, bordering on a split-backfield (at times).

In my scenario RB1 was getting 1.5X the carries of RB2, and 3x the carries of RB3. Last year our RB1 (CJ) got 3.5X the carries of RB2 (Greene), and 7.75X the carries of RB3 (Battle). It's not even in the same ballpark.

But these are just my interpretations of the terms "RBBC", "workhorse", etc. I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong. My original point was only that IMO it doesn't have to be an even split to qualify as RBBC. Yet there IS a cutoff point where it becomes a "main guy/workhorse" situation.

If you do it on a consistent basis, then IMO yes. Because if you're using the averages and say you take 4 of CJ's 17 carries and disperse them between Green and Battle, now you're looking at something like "CJ=13, Greene= 7, Battle=4". Of course these are averages but if every game was split that same way percentage-wise, I'd consider that a RBBC. Because Greene would've been getting about half the carries of CJ. And Battle would've been getting about 1/3rd. That's quite a significant different split, percentage-wise than the reality of last year.

To add one more thing, it's not all about the carry percentages. One of the main advantages of RBBC, and the reason it does qualify as a change in philosophy IMO, is that it allows you to more easily go with the "hot hand". Maybe RB2 or even RB3 matches up better against a particular defense, so they get more carries in that game. Or maybe RB1 is just having an off day so you can lean on RB2/3 more. In this type of system you aren't tied to one guy and aren't compelled to give "the guy" "his carries" (ahem, ahem).

Not once last year did Greene get more carries than CJ. And does anyone here honestly believe that CJ was running better and more effectively in all 16 of those games? I don't think so. But this was "CJ's team" and he's our "big money playmaker" so he gets his carries no ifs, ands, or buts.

1200 rushing only. Under 1200 I win. Over 1200 you win. Good luck!

Greene's injury played a big part in that. Game 1, Greene was getting a decent amount of carries and I honestly thought it was going to be a 60-40 or 65-35 split. Then Greene hurt his knee and missed a few games which I think threw off any chance at the staff being able to establish some kind of rhythm in the running game. Then when we finally get Greene back, healthy, Jake goes and gets hurt. So many things went wrong last season it's depressing to even think about it. I honestly think if Greene never gets hurt he becomes a pretty big part of the offense. We'll never know now.

That's a good point. I wasn't really thinking about that. Still, I doubt he ever would've got more carries than "The Playmaker" in a game.
