2014 NFL Draft: Pick #11 - OT Taylor Lewan

Nope. Was high on Kendall Wright pre-draft.

 

Uhh... he was very good in college, and he's made quite a few plays in the very little time he's been on the field in the NFL.

FML we took another OL in round 1! F it all the great players were gone and in a couple of years we need a Tackle so lets grab a DBag now instead of trading back to grab more quality picks later. Seems good. Dude didn't cry, WTF?

 

Realistically though who else would we have taken? With Gilbert, Barr, & Ebron all being picked right before us, which are players that I thought had potential for us at 11 Lewan was the best tackle on the board and bpa according to some. Roos has one year at most left and with Stewart gone, we knew this would happen at some point. Oher is there, but not sure how long he'll stick around. Not a horrible pick, I just think we were all hoping for Barr (atleast I know I was) or something other than O-Line, but I do think this sets us up well in the future. Tackles that can start consistently for 10 years for the same organization are GOLD. Is Taylor that for us? Only time will tell, glad we took him over a QB or some CB that we didn't want that would have been a reach. I'm happy with it.

I mean by definition there were games last year that Rusty 'the Rifle' Smith was better (at least for a few weeks) than Jake Locker
