BTW, who says they aren't drafting one in the next 2 rounds? ;-)

It's the choice of the poster on who they wanted, and I said nobody on here wanted an LT.

Just remember the difference between a WANT and a NEED.

Yea I was stunned with the pick. After thinking about it, I thought it was a safe pick. I agree, not an attractive pick, but safe one. The tackle position is set now for several years either if Roos pans out or not. If Jake falls, we still have a dominant line for a QB and our RB's. We didn't reach on this pick so I'm happy so far.

We should have done the world a favor and draft him... So espn, nfl net, and the rest would just completely ignore that it even happened.

I swear we get zero coverage lol

People keep saying this but I find it hard to believe that the FO would be that short-sighted and reactionary. I mean, no doubt he should help in defending against Clowney. But I don't think it's like our FO threw up their hands and went "Well, guess we're drafting an OT fellas!" after Clowney's name was announced.

Exactly how I feel, I am not crazy over it...but I see the value and logic. When a borderline top 2 tackle falls in your lap, and multiple guys you want are gone, you take him. ESPECIALLY as disfuntional as our line is, with potential people leaving, and of one possibly not being starter worthy. This was a no brainer. How someone can say this isn't a need is beyond me.

JR1980 I see what your saying, but we don't taylor our team for specifically the Texans. Line could have been addressed in later rounds, but the playmakers are taken first round. Offensive line has some of the most raw talent out of the group of players drafted, and requires just as much coaching as QB for blocking schemes. Running back, corner back, quarter back are all instinct positions, they just need the play book and not as much coaching. I think we should not be scared of what the Texans put out on the field, but be more scared about putting out a competitive team right now, not just a competitive offensive line.

The thing that gets me is Roos is the highest paid player on the team, we just signed Oher to a $6 million per year deal, and spent a 1st round draft pick on an OT. That's a LOT of investment in 3 players where only 2 can play. We needed someone to come in and make an impact right away. I would have preferred to reach on Dennard than do this. It's not like there won't be good OT's available next year. There are always 3-4 good ones in each draft.

I just hope the Texans don't take Carr. That would be a tremendous 1st and 2nd round for them. CLowney and Carr in the same draft. Ugh.
