Avery will eventually be one of the ILB starters. Woodyard and Brown are speed guys, while Avery is run stuffer. he's a good locker room guy and has the production. Brown better get his **** straightened out or he'll be replaced by this "special teams at best" guy.

Not likely to happen. He won't even be ready to play in preseason games. We will go with clipboard Jesus as the backup unless we lose a lot. If we lose a lot, we'll probably play Mettenburger late in the season.

Why trade up then? McCarron and Murray went, Mettenberger is the next best QB. Don't trade up and miss out on a QB period?

Also, I think they panicked because they wanted either McCarron or Murray.

why due to his knee? I've heard its close to 100%. I have a hard time believing Whitehurst is going to take the #2 spot, he hasn't had much live experience.

Maybe he has a sense of humor? I think that's a pretty funny answer. I'm not dismissing a 6th round QB project because he made a joke in an interview.

This is a great pick, in my opinion. We have Charlie Whitehurst. He's our probably our 3rd string QB, but maybe second. He will compete with Mettenberger for that roll. He spent the last season holding Whiz's clipboard in San Diego, watching a very good QB run Whiz's offense very well. He will be the support and mentor that our 2 young QBs need.

Locker, who is our definite starter on day 1, won't feel any pressure from a 6th round draft pick. He can enter camp secure in his position, and focus on having the best year possible. We have a good development project, a guy on the last year of his deal who needs to win his job, and a vet to help them both learn. I'm OK with that going into this season. Can't be any worse than last year's QB play. And we have made massive strides in improving every other facet of our team in the past 2 offseasons.

We f*cked up by not taking McCarron earlier.

Were lucky to e abe to get this guy but McCarron is the better prospect.

If he is healthy enough to actually see the field in the preseason, he will beat out Whitehurst most likely. Maybe not by the start of the season though. Remember, he's a rookie and Whitehurst knows the offense well.

I gotta see what everyone else says, too. We should start taking wagers a month before the season starts :p
