Gotta ride with this. Macnair can be considered "average" but only when compared to the greats who've played the position which is why he'll never make the hall. Greene can't even be compared to guys like Joseph Addai. Mcnair was at least a "hall of very good" player and if Greene retired today he wouldn't be qualified to mop those halls.

Challenge accepted. You can gather your stats now, that don't account for anything but numbers. Its already been said 3 pro bowls, a mvp and a afc championship, there's a few for you. we ran an extremely conservative o in mcnairs time here. Run, run, run then occasionally pass, it nothing to do with his passing ability only fisher and cos philosophy, that can't be argued. He may not be a hof player, but it's only because the system he played in. he had the greatest career of any football player evr in the state of tn.

Greene had a few decent years playing #2 in ny, yes. But he has and never will be anything special. The big issue is that he's burned out and can't stay healthy at this.point in his career. at no point in mcnairs career was he ever considered garbage, greene has hit that mark

Greene had the same ypc as CJ who is the fastest Rb in the league. I think he played fine. Infantile minds here think that if your not a top 10 player at your position you are worthless. Greene is at least the 2nd best back on this team and that is good enough to make the squad.

The only way he gets cut is if he is out of shape and plays poorly in the preseason. That's not going to happen. We didn't mind paying him to backup CJ last year so why not this year?

Oher, Wimbley and Greene have to play themselves off the roster. I don't see us cutting them for money only.

If you're throwing out #'s than what's the point of even debating with you?

Pro Bowls mean nothing. Popularity contest- although I'll give Steve credit that they DID mean more back then.

AFC championship? When he was essentially our Trent Dilfer at that time. Best running game in the league- best defense... what did he have to do? He sure could hand that ball off!

Don't get it twisted. I'm not saying Greene is a better pro than Steve was. I'm merely saying to call one "garbage" while praising the other... that's silly.

Steve over his career was merely "good"... at best. Hardly anything to praise.

His best year, he won CO-MVP... CO. You guys always leave that part off.

I was gonna bring that up. CO - MVP is a lot different than unquestioned MVP for the year.

In the late 90s a free agent RB coming off back to back thousand yard seasons would be a hot property. Now he is just a $3M a year guy.

We signed Greene last year knowing that we would need him this year. That's good planing. We knew we would be trying to move on without CJ and needed a quality guy.

Why pay a guy a $2.5M SB and then cut him after just one year? That's not financially sound. Next year his salary jumps up by a million dollars, he will be a year older and we will know what we have in Sankey. Next year he is likely cut.

As for Greene he should be motivated to work hard and get that salary. If he fails this year he will fall into the vet minimum category and pushing 30 it will be hard just to find a job. He has to be motivated.

Since numbers do matter to those that aren't total bias homers:

Steve McNair's best season he had 22 TD's... (11 starting seasons)

Ryan Fitzpatrick has had 23, 24, and 24. (6 starting seasons)

    Boom.

It would be really nice if you knew what you were talking about.

In McNair's best season he had 28 TD's.
