You haven't seen any of it?

I'm jealous. I plan on going back and watching it all marathon style sometime this summer.

    Do you not have Netflix?

Breaking bad was not a show that built slowly over time. The pilot is a classic that hits you in the gut and the brain pan and shocks you into wanting more. You can't believe that such a show even made it onto cable tv.

My wife and I came late to the show...season 3 or so. We used Roku until we were caught up...took about a week.

Am through the first DVD of season 3. It is an excellent TV series. Probably the second best series I have seen after The Wire. Though it is a distant second to The Wire. It is not entirely what I expected from hearing people talk about the show. I did not expect as much focus on the family life as I have seen. The Walter character is, however, more or less what I expected. Though I did not expect the Jesse character to be such good and wimp.

I can see why the show is so popular. About a 'loser' who has had enough of being a 'loser' and is using his book smarts to become a big shot in the criminal world. Between being a 'loser' that becomes a tough guy and doing it all for 'noble' reasons makes Walter White a likeable protagonist. At the same time this show comes off like Greek tragedy. The more Walter does with noble intentions the worse he makes things for the people he is trying to help. Walter reminds me a little of Frank Sobotka from season two of The Wire in this way.

At the same time the show does not glamorize the criminal life and goes to great lengths to show all the negative sides of the illegal drug trade. Which also makes the show palatable to the 'mainstream' America -- the Hank Hills of the world.

Season 3 is when it starts to really pick up, it is only uphill from there.

Just an FYI, you can probably skip the episode 'Fly' if you want. From what I remember, it doesn't really add anything to the story. Oh haha, thats season three. Only reason I could justify that episode was to show how obsessive Walt can be.

The episode 'One Minute' was what made me love this show.

I've never been one to get wrapped up and start screaming at the television, but that episode did it for me at the end.

I still don't understand why everyone has The Wire ahead of BB. I'm on season 3 of The Wire. It's good, but I've never been like "damn I gotta watch another episode." I was that way with BB the entire show - except for maybe after the "Fly" episode, as Scarecrow mentioned.

It really was a filler episode. Not much in it even relatively important other than something with Jesse and Jane maybe.

It is personal prefence. Shows are quite different. Like most HBO shows The Wire has a lot of characters and a lot going on. Not for everyone. Season three may be the weakest of the seasons. However season four is the best. Starts kinda lame with kids and stuff but gets really good really fast.

The Jane character is another good one. Perfect for that giant ***** Jesse. Exact kind of girl a guy like him ends up with.

And I cannot be the only on who thinks TT is probably a lot like Hank :)
