I can't agree with this statment at all ... You can teach technique. You can't teach Athleticism. You can can train, workout, practice, or whatever you want to reach your full potential, but you will always be limited to what your genetics allow you to do.

Technique is something that can be taught. If you already have great technique as a young player, then you may be near your ceiling already. Take a great athlete and teach him the technique, then you have a great player.

You are right that there are good athletes that may not have great technique, but mulitple people have said that we aren't saying every great FB player can be a great soccer player ... or even that every great athlete can play any sport. But chances are a lot of the could.

Its similar to when people talk about Lebron playing TE ... If he came into the NFL and played now, he would suck. No doubt about it. He lacks the technique and general football IQ. BUT if he had played in HS and college, then I have no doubts that someone as physically gifted and athletic as Lebron would have learned the right tech. He probably would have been a great TE if that is what he chose earlier in life.

I am sure there are a lot of NFL players that would have been just as good in soccer than they were in FB.

I am also sure that there are alot of kids that choose FB over soccer, even though they would probably be better suited for soccer. But they choose FB because its there favorite sport.

Again ... I, as well as others, have made it very clear that is not what we are saying.

You can tell the people that haven't really played soccer when they automatically jump to "ankle injuries" and things of that sort.

Busted heads and concussions for going up for headers is the main issue. Elbows when going high, etc.

Then broken toes, cleats to calves... and then the worst of it but more rare are the sliding tackles where a bone ends up out of the skin.

I was about the smallest dude on my football team and they had me playing WR/FS/CB/PR/KR and then later running back. I never once was hurt. I got the wind knocked out of me once... that was it. Oh. And a few finger jams/smashes in facemasks.

Fact: A compilation of soccer injuries is FAR worse than a compilation of football injuries.

Hell, most football injuries are total "wtf" moments where someone comes up lame while untouched.

Almost every soccer match = blood. It's rare in football.

Not saying other stuff doesn't happen but sprains and strains are the most common.

"The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's statistics for 2009 reveal that 88,000 soccer players between the ages of 5 and 14 were seen in emergency rooms for sports injuries. In 2011, Safe Kids Worldwide reported that 104,190 soccer players between ages 12 and 17 were seen in emergency rooms, with 13 percent of those injuries involving concussions."

"The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that in 2009, 212,000 children were seen in emergency rooms for football injuries. By 2011, there were 275,050 emergency room visits for football players between ages 12 and 17, with 13 percent involving concussions."

People roll their ankle playing soccer.

    People get paralyzed playing football.

Sprains are the most common probably in every sport. Not sure how much of an "injury" a sprain is though.

But on the whole- the brutality of soccer injuries are far worse.

Much better conditioned athletes playing soccer though- so not as many ACL, MCL, hamstring, etc injuries.
