You are correct. He was set up for failure from the start. Breaks my heart to see a team legend go out like that. And it was only made worse by the fact he had provably the worst staff in the nfl. It is actually shocking he did as well as he did considering.

 

In one season he put up more passing yards with a qb than any if fishers titans seasons.

 

I really wanted the Munch experiment to work, I really wanted to see Jerry Gray as the defensive coordinator, I really wanted Bruce to be successful as line coach, I wanted the 'Old Oiler Network' to work. It just didn't. We gave it three years and with no discernible improvement, it was time to move on. I was afraid initially when I heard that Munch had been hired as the coach b/c I knew that if it didn't work, that would be the end of his tenure as an Oiler/Titan - and I knew that day would svck. And it did. But the experiment did fail, and it was time to move on. There's no use crying over any of it now.

I'm not necessary speaking of just the head coach position.

 

I personally would like to see what Munch could do with better coordinators. If ever given a second chance at head coaching, perhaps be more results-based instead of loyalty-based. Not his fault for Chris Palmer, as late as he was hired, but Dowell Low-gains is all on him.

Neither was I. Throughout franchise history the Titans are pretty open with positions. Much was different. At least somewhat. And fisher did like to promote from within when it came to DCs. Otherwise they have not been afraid to go outside. Same witb the front office.
