Dalton has peaked IMO. He came in almost fully developed for him.

Heard on the radio he has $25 million guaranteed in the first two years then the Bengals can cut him with almost no repercussions after that. It's still a prove-it deal.

I may be in the minority but I don't think it's a bad deal at all. You have to have a QB and at some point you are going to have to pay him. There's a lot of outs for the team in this one, kinda like the Kapernick deal. Once the details came out, it was not that bad either.

Dalton is pretty good, he has just struggled in the post season. Last year it was the stupid play calling of passing every play. If they had just established the run and some play action it wouldn't have been all on his shoulders IMO.

But he still looks like that kid from Christmas story

I agree it's not that bad of a deal... And Dalton is good. Just not elite. I knew when the structure of the contract was revealed we wouldn't think it's that bad.

I am glad we did not hire Jay Gruden... his play calling really was bad in the playoffs.

They had Gio and failed to use him properly when it mattered most. With Sanu emerging, Marvin Jones (if he can stay healthy), Eifert in year two, and now Jeremy Hill... they have about all they need on offense. Dalton needs to deliver.

Don't worry... He's better than your boy, Flacco. And Bengals > Ravens.

This is just dumb. We have a bunch of Jake Locker fanboys criticizing Andy Dalton and the reasonable deal he got. Meanwhile...

    1. Comparison of first two seasons - Andy Dalton: 47 TDs, 29 INT; Andrew Luck: 46 TDs, 27 INT (Not to say Luck isn't better, but Dalton is producing.)

    2. Dalton threw for 33 TDs last season. That was good for 3rd in the league. Other notable QBs and their 2013 passing TDs: Rivers (32); Stafford (29); Ryan (26); Wilson (26); Foles (26); Brady (25); Kaepernick (21); Flacco (19); Eli Manning (18); Cam Newton (24).

    3. Before Dalton, the Bengals had been to the playoffs 2 out of the last 20 years. Now they've made it 3 years in a row.

    4. Granted, he hasn't won a playoff game. But plenty of QBs have had early playoff struggles in their first few years; that's not unique to Dalton. Eli Manning lost his first two playoff games (2 tds and 4 ints in those games), Drew Brees didn't win a playoff game until his 6th season in the league.

Not sure why the hate on Dalton is so strong. Is it because he wasn't projected as a good QB? In other words, does that make people think that he's just a bad QB who is outperforming his potential?
