Yep. Coaching, OL, CJ.... they were all pretty real terrible at their jobs the past few years. It wasn't any one thing. Oh well, not our problem anymore. It'll be fun to watch the circus unfold in NY.

 

It probably would have been smart to keep quiet until he started performing this season (assuming that this happens, which I am not holding my breath for), THEN make comments like this (because I do agree that we weren't exactly the Bill Walsh 49ers over the past, say 20 years or so).

That said, the operative word in what I just wrote is "smart", so I should not be surprised here.

 

Well I do agree with CJ to an extent. No one on this board had any faith in the play calling / game planning abilities of either of our last 2 OC's. CJ really is just saying what we have already said in the forum 1000x's

HOWEVER, some of the blame does fall on CJ as well. We all know that his effort wasn't always there in games, and from what I have heard it wasn't there in practices either. CJ is quick to blame everyone but himself (coaching staff, OL, etc) but fails to see his own flaws. This is a bad quality to have as a leader, team mate, or just a person in general ... and will ultimately hold him back from ever becoming the best possible player he could be.

Players like this aren't "every coach's dream", but are more like "every coach's nightmare" ... Most coaches would rather have average players that work hard and work well as a team, rather than having standouts that are horrible team mates. Not many games are won with players like this.

The bad part is, CJ has already experienced this and still has yet to change. When the Titans brought in a new coaching staff CJ (who despite your opinion of his was still one of our best players) was cut almost immediately ... Once CJ hit the open market, a whopping 1 team had any real interest in him (and that team has been a clusterf#ck for the past couple years).

Now, for any normal person, this would be an eye opener ... but not for CJ apparently. He still has his Me 1st mentality (although Rex Ryan probably is probably an enabler for this type of personality).

So while I do agree with CJ ... and honestly I believe that he is still one of the most talented RBs in this league (just held back by his own ego), I do predict an pretty awful year for him in NY. MAYBE that will be the eye opener for CJ. MAYBE he will learn that it wasn't all the Titans and he will start to play like he is capable ... but I would be surprised.

It is a shame though because CJ was one of the most fun players to watch in the NFL. I would like to see him get back to that, even if it is for another team, just because I enjoy watching him play when he is actually trying.

 

CJ will never be CJ again, that guy we loved 2008-2009 is loooong gone.
