Anyone know the status on Greene? He was doing well before he got hurt.

The play of Sankey has been way overvalued thus far. Only thing he's done I've been impressed with is catch the ball out of the backfield extremely well

He's looked good but I agree some people are going a bit overboard. I think Greene has looked every bit as good, if not better, and he's been going against starters.

I hope Greene can stay healthy because I'd love to roll through the season with these 3 guys at RB.

Yea Greene has done really well because our OLine hasn't been getting pushed back like total b*tches, unless your name is Roos on a pass play. Sankey just isn't fast enough to always get to the edge, but does do a good job of turning the ball upfield. We'll wait and see though, everything is so vanilla right now.

On another note though, Mett looks like he could be the real deal. I foresee him sitting the year unless the injury bug flares up and possibly taking over next year. Great pocket presence and throws the best ball out of all 3 QBs. Anyone know what happened to Whitehurst? He was in the game and then just not...

I DVRd the game (on at midnight on NFL Network), and just finished watching it.

While I agree that Mett has alot of potential, IMO he is not ready for NFL regular season play yet. While he has a cannon for an arm and, as Stan mentions, has good pocket presence, he looks to me like he is passing to his first option the vast majority of the time (probably because of the vanilla defenses leaving the first read largely open), and he is telegraphing the read. This looked to me to be how his interception occurred (the Saints defender dropped back based on Mett's eyes IMO and was able to get an easy pick). Also, in my book he had three turnovers, not two (the Sankey fumble was also on him as I saw it...the ball was nowhere close to Sankey's gut).

He needs to work on ball control/protection, and I think that the game needs to slow down for him yet. This will come with time, but I think that folks clamoring for him to play this season (unless it goes into the toilet later) are getting ahead of themselves.

That said, it does appear that we got a steal in the 6th round here. I think that he could have a very bright future if he stays focused and improves.

Also, that McCluster catch in the first quarter made me realize what we were missing in pass receiving ability from the backfield over the past many many years. He is going to be something to watch in the right situations this season IMO.

Yea I DVRd the game as well (didn't get to watch in real time because I'm a server). Definitely not clamoring for Mett to be the starter, just stoked that we have some real potential sitting on the bench. I think Jake also stares down his receivers a bit too much and tends to throw the ball too high. It got Wright leveled once and McCluster almost took a good lick too but avoided it.

Most important thing to note is that on the offensive side of the ball we can see Wisenhunts work all over. It's amazing how our receivers and Taylor Thompson have seemingly made a 180 from last season. And I'm kinda ready for Nate to be #3 now. Hunter and Wright too explosive.

Lewan got owned real hard on the play that took out Whitehurst for the night. He's a rookie and was trying block a pro bowler last year too though.

I agree. Mett has rookie mistakes/issues. He could be very good someday though.

Which is why I've always hated the 3-4. Too gimmicky and not as effective
