Archer may or may not pan out. At 173 lbs, he may look great until he gets popped a few times, and then become just another speedster who's scared of getting hit. Most 173 pounders won't be able to take the punishment very long. Maybe Archer will be one of the few exceptions to that rule though.

Archer will be fine. He's bigger, stronger, and much faster/quicker than McCluster when he came into the league. Desean Jackson is actually thinner than both of them and he's thrived.

I dont think SLH will ever be that guy. Dominant NT's are hard to find and he will never be that imo. As long as he can hold his gap, I'll stay off his ass until we find a permanent solution.

Look at what we are getting out of it though. Resigning Wright and working on JC. Id rather lose Verner than either of those two, any day of the week.

What we were looking at, at the end of 2015.

    Roos
    Nate Washington
    Locker
    Jurrell Casey
    Ayers

And a whole lot of our depth.

Granted, we have made moves to fix some of that, but I believe it was a decision that was made. Then, once they saw how cheaply he could come, they tried to match it (or close to it). He got butthurt, and left.

I've always been a fan of ATV's attitude. I did not, however, want to give him a JM type of contract and worry about what was happening at the end of this season. I do not believe he would have been worth it.

Agree 100 % and he doesn't fall down as soon as he's touched. He pushes for another yard or two. He doesn't give up or at least not so far...

Roos won't be back, Washington's will be back cheaper and Ayers isn't in the position to demand big money.

Jackson is not the player he was a few years ago. He is pretty much just a deep threat now. A very good deep threat, but he's scared to go over the middle these days.

I found it very interesting that in the 1st drive Locker only took one snap from under center. The rest of the plays were all from the shotgun. Then the 2nd drive most of the plays were from under center. Not sure why the big difference.

The nice thing is that we moved the ball well under both scenarios.

I was pleased with Locker's performance, but IMO he still bailed from the pocket on several occasions when the pressure wasn't really too bad. It is still early and I hope he will continue to improve.

Chance's body looks totally different compared to last year. I liked how the OL blocked. They just seem much more decisive in the non-zone scheme. Roos and Lewan both got bull rushed pretty bad, but in general I like what I saw.

I thought that Jackie Battle did a really nice job as a FB. When asked to block he did his job. I think he is a lock to make the team.

We have solid depth at RB. I feel like Greene, Sankey, and McCluster will really allow us to keep guys fresh and wear teams down come the 4th Q.

Thompson really seems to have turned the corner. I love our depth at TE.

Gotta love the improvement in Hunter's play. Again I really like our depth at WR. Hagan, Preston, and Robiskie have all played well. Will be interesting to see how many WRs we keep and how this affects Mariani. Mariani had a great game returning. He isn't flashy, but he somehow just finds the crease and times things well with his blockers allowing him to get good yardage. I also think that he does a very good job with his decision making.

I think we keep Mariani over Leon Washington. You don't need 5 RBs active on game day which is what would happen if we kept Washington.

Yeah, I really like how the offense looked. We look to have plenty of depth at key positions besides wr, but our top talent is good. OL looked really good. I think the defense will get it together. After bad 1st drives they really seem to lock down. I'm excited for the season. I think we can be pretty decent and would be disappointed if were not in the playoff hunt at the end.

I think it's easier for an offense to change a system then a defense. Reason is is that the offense is preplanned defense is mostly reactive. I was extremely pleased with our 1st string offense. Our corners need major work. That's our glaring deficit on D. As a whole I think our D played better after the first series. First series was alarming. Considering it's a new defense and that we did not game plan I have high hopes for the D to play middle of the pack by week one. I think we become top 10 by cold games.

I think we're good on O. I hope Locker stays on the field, but if he gets hurt I would almost rather see mett come in. He looks pretty damn poised and sharp for a rookie couple mistakes, but overall solid rookie not ROY by any stretch, imho. Thoughts?
