Maybe we can trade Mett to St. Louis. Try and get a second. Would be sweet to get a second for a sixth round pick.

Always believed it should be Mettenberger. Just not from a talent standpoint but because if Locker goes down this season then big picture the season may not be over but the search for our next franchise QB begins. I rather give those reps to Mett to evaluate and see what kinda game he has instead of wasting snaps to a filler QB hoping to lead us to a 6-10 season.

I've always thought "QFT" was for Quit Fcking Talking.

    That's totally different.

Even though it's against scrubs I've come away very impressed with Mettenberger.

A few things you can't take away from the kid..
Strong pinpoint arm- he has thrown the ball in some tight spaces.
Stands strong in the pocket and can shrug off defenders
Thought he climbed the pocket well a few times
Kid plays with a lot of confidence for a rookie.

    However...
Holds the ball too long- I wanted to see improvement due to lack of mobility
Trust his strong arm to much ( suneri interception saints)

If Locker goes down I'll be pissed if Mett doesn't play.

Think about it. If Locker gets hurt, he is done in Tennessee. So at that point, we need to know if we need to draft a QB or not.

If we go into the draft needing a QB and having no clue of Mett can be the man... That will be beyond frustrating.

My fear is that somehow Mett becomes the Farve of the Titans. That Locker does ok this year and then we trade Mett away for a draft pick and then he goes on to have a better career than Locker.

But I agree with Playmaker that if Locker goes down we need to see what Mett can do against real defenses.

LOL....the idea of anyone trading a 1st for Mett. Come on....he has looked good in preseason, but is still very much a rookie, making rookie mistakes. In the regular season he would look pretty rough starting out IMO.

Don't get me wrong, the guy can be very good. But thinking that anyone who is sane would trade a 1st round pick for a recent 6th round draft pick rookie QB who has played well against 2nd-3rd stringers in a few preseason games is just laughable.

If Fisher goes anywhere, my guess is that he approaches Belicheat about Mallet....and I would be shocked if he trades a #1 for anybody.

We won't trade Mett. No one is going to look at him tear up third string defenses with no scheming and say "That is our guy".

Whatever the Titans think he is worth is going to be more than what anyone else thinks he is worth until he plays real defenses.

Totally agree...I like what I have seen in Mett as well, but I am not ready to start putting him in the same sentence as Favre just yet. Geez...a couple of good games against scrubs and I see folks starting to fit the guy for a gold jacket LOL.

On the subject of the thread (just noticed I had not weighed in on this yet), my guess is that CBJ starts out #2 and remains there if Locker stays on the field. If Locker gets hurt, I see CBJ starting until he either fizzles or the team falls out of contention, when I see us giving Mett his shot.

Even if Locker stays on the field, I would not be surprised to see Mett making some sort of appearance late in the season if we are out of playoff contention. We would be prudent to try to evaluate what we have with him before deciding what to do with Locker's contract IMO.
