If the PATs are moved back will their be a new role for a 2 point specialist at QB (a Tebow or wildcat type of QB).

It is much harder for a defense to have to account for a QB who is a threat to actually run the ball. Especially if they only have to gain 2 yds.

Previous stats show that kickers will make about 91% of the PATs from the new distance compared to 99.5% from the old distance. The historical 2 point conversion rate is around 45%, but I think that if you had a true run/pass threat as a QB that the rate of conversion would be improved.

I think some team with a dual threat QB will decide to always go for 2. If they convert the 1st time then they put pressure on their opponent to actually go for 2 to catch up. So I could see a role for a dual threat 2 point conversion specialist.

If PATs are moved back, Goodell can EAD. He can already EAD right now, so if it actually happens he can E2D's.

There's only so much you can do up close to warrant going for it consistently.. i'd say other teams would prepare for your guy's tricks and you'd be losing points

i don't see it as a reliable source of points

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about the possibility of the PAT being moved back.

Exactly what does everyone hate about it, other than change?

Cause first he moves back the PAT, then he takes away the kickoff entirely. Then he impregnates your first born daughter.

    Goodell is the damn devil.

Because nothing was wrong with it being at the 2.

It's just the hypocrisy of it all. Kickers are making too high of a percentage of their PATs, so they're moved back. You think if QBs start completing a higher percentage of their passes(70% for the sake of argument) that the rules will be changed to make it more difficult? I'll save you some time: no.

PATs are supposed to be as easy as they come. There's not supposed to be any type of challenge with them. That's the whole point.

You can either go for the gimme 1 point or risk missing out on that point by going for 2.

This completely f*cks with that... While a 33 yarder is still pretty automatic, there is absolutely no reason to force kickers into more pressure on what is supposed to be a gimme PAT.

Like I said, I really wish all coaches had revolted against this garbage experiment and gone for 2 every time during the preseason. Or just shank all the kicks.

Goodell is a c*nt... and I fully expect the 33 yard PATs to be installed for good next season.

    We need Tagliabue back.
