has he not been criminally charged yet?

pretty sure just because he's a football player, doesn't mean he can assault people and only be suspended from football games

Surprised he only got 2 games, that was pretty aggressive.

That said, this happened and she still married him a month later? Talk about chasing the money...

There are rumors flying that the Ravens could release him. Although I think that pathetic franchise might be as likely to build him statue as release him. Goodell really goofed on this one. He needs to reopen the file on this one and hand out a more severe suspension.

Honestly though, I don't see why everyone had to actually see the video to become so outraged. We already knew he decked her and we already knew she was knocked unconscious.

And I will say, even though I think he is a pathetic POS for hitting a woman like that, I'm not sure I agree that teams should blackball him and his career should be over. Unless that's just going to be the protocol for these situations from here on out. Because let's not act like Ray Rice is the first NFL player to hit their significant other. That video was tough to watch, but again, is the act itself somehow worse because there's a video of it? It shouldn't be. And lots of instances of domestic violence have been swept under the rug and forgotten about over the years. I'm not justifying sweeping them under the rug because that's even more wrong. But I think if you are going to make an example of Ray Rice then you need to remain consistent going forward. If Aaron Rodgers hits his wife... blackballed. If Calvin Johnson hits his wife.... blackballed. etc. etc. etc.

She apparently didn't press charges. And she issued some ridiculous statement basically saying it was her fault. No doubt she did it for monetary reasons. She has to protect Ray's livelihood so she can in turn share in the wealth.

Although I was under the impression that domestic violence is always charged even if the victim doesn't want any charges. I'm no lawyer though so maybe I just got that from Law & Order or something.

I'm surprised there are not protests outside Ravens HQ and Goodell's office. What little respect I had for both has vanished.

Obviously there's a ton of speculation flying but it sounds like there's a good chance Goodell could "reopen" the case and hand down a stricter punishment.

Again though, my thing is why does he have to actually SEE the knockout to hand down a fitting punishment? It's like "Well Ray, I've seen the video of you dragging her unconscious body out of the elevator and the reports says you punched her..... BUT now that I've actually seen the punch this really changes things". WTF?

Goodell will have to give into media pressure. That's why.
