None of which surprises me in the least. This is exactly the type of faux action I expected. News of an "independent investigation" quiets enough critics in the short-term. And by the time the investigation is over (and who knows how long that's going to be) people are going to be over it and onto the next thing. Sure some people will still make a stink if(/when) Goodell skates. But it won't be anything remotely like what we saw yesterday. I guarantee that.

I don't know. Comment sections on the news outlets are lit up. ESPN survey says 64% nation thing Goodell should resign.

I'm thinking that the "independant" investigation will find Goodell with an understandable fault. Goodell will then resign but this investigation will take until the end of the season before it is "concluded". Goodell sails off with severance pay.

I think enough media people have become interested in the apparent cover-up. The public sentiment against owners is swelling. You've got Irsay popping pills and photos of wrinkled old Jerry Jones squeezing some hotties tits from behind.

On record for endorsing Goodell- Kraft and Mara. Kraft's endorsement will be linked to "Spy-gate" and Mara's chairing will be linked to his premature statement of support. No way the media lets those slide with at least a modicum of exposure.

This "appointment" is only a temporizing measure to limit the damage to the next off-season when the "findings/conclusions" of the "investigation" are made public.

Anyone else think even if Goodell didn't see the video he should be held accountable? If someone in the league office saw it and didn't give it to him Goodell should still be responsible, by his own standard. That's why Sean Peyton was suspended for the entire year over Bountygate.

I heard this brought up on the radio yesterday and thought it was an excellent point. Goodell basically used the "ignorance is no excuse" line on the Saints. Why should the same not apply here?

Honestly, here's what I think probably happened. This anonymous cop sends the tape to the NFL. Some secretary or low/mid-level official receives the tape and watches it. This employee let's their superior(/s) know they have the tape. This employee is told that the higher ups do not want to see the tape or even acknowledge its existence. Tape is destroyed.

There is just NO WAY IN HELL that this tape was in the possession of ANYONE in the league office without Roger Goodell knowing about it. No freaking way.

This is what makes this story so rich. Goodell has been arbitrary in how interprets rules, bends "precedent" and has administrated his conduct policy under the mantra that the court of public opinion is more important than legal guilt. An NFL employee waives all rights to due process because they are "priviliged" to be part of the NFL.

Well now, Goodell has "tarnished the shield" now his dubious "cover-up" methods are being exposed. His arrogance has caught up with him in that his underestimated the public's ability to sniff this latest attempt to suppress the video. (Which is what made "Spy-Gate" go away btw.)

The public will soon turn on the owners if they don't distance themselves from him. I truly believe everyone knows this "independent" investigation is also a ruse but owners are only supporting it as a temporizing measure to make it to the off-season before Goodell is fired or resigns. It can also be a way in which their loyal stooge is rewarded with a generous severance package.

I have NO DOUBTS that is exactly what occurred. Technique made Spy-gate go away. They tried it again, but some very smart "law enforcement" official was ready for them this time around.

Looking at the last 2 elevator incidents I would have to give Jay-Z some props for holding his composure and respecting Solange. He never went on the offensive as she attacked and kicked him several times.

Not surprised, but Ray Rice and Kenny Britt were teamates at Rutgers....not that this has anything to with this incident.

He was also ridiculed in the media about getting beat up by a woman.

Defend yourself and leave marks you get arrested. Don't defend yourself and get ridiculed. The Patriarchy privilege at work right there.

Jay Z is at least smart enough to see the big picture. Dude's worth a half a billion dollars and bangs Beyonce. I doubt he cares what a bunch of random idiots on the internet are saying about him.
