Interesting to see that Rivers doesn't get a mention. He is a very good QB in his own right.

Montana is still the best "QB" I ever saw. Not just the rings....******* Terry Bradshaw has rings but he doesn't rate anywhere on the top qb lists.

2 in the past 15 years probably goes to show it isn't as rare as you think.

Brees is a Hall of Famer. Can't get much better.

The only thing Brees doesn't have that Manning/Brady have is media attention.

To further your point, Brady replaced Bleds-- a very good QB! That man was a badass! Steve Young has not been mentioned- dude balled for years. They come and go. What makes a good QB is situational big game control. Some offenses do not ask much of their starters- I mean quarterbacks that have really no numbers, but fit into their respective systems need not be forgotten. The best QB I have ever watched was Montana! You just knew he was going to win it in the end. That man was amazing to watch play! Of course he had a hard hitting D, an amazing running game, and the best receiver of all time! Does not matter--if he had a chance, they won the game. I watched it over and over! Who knows who the next one will be! Did we forget about Elway? I did not further your point at all actually! LOL- rambling

Agree about Montana....best I have seen play as well. I remember seeing him come off of the bench (3rd string at the time if I remember correctly) to replace Rusty Lisch when he played for Notre Dame....never gave back the starting slot. That was so long ago that the game was not even on live TV...it was back in the days when compressed Notre Dame games were replayed every Sunday morning (and narrated by the late Lindsey Nelson).

It should be noted that he was a 3rd round pick, if memory serves.

5 years ago this is true, but not today.

Brees is raking in the dough endorsement wise, you dont land Verizon and Pepsi commercials unless you're a media darling.

Philip Rivers is an arrogant, trash-talking bum that everyone will have forgotten about a couple of years after retirement.

He consistently loses in the playoffs more than Manning, and even with LT, and a killer defense for many years, he could never make it happen in the playoffs.

Manning and Marino get a pass for the playoff losses due to them being absolute monsters in the regular seasons for a decade.. Rivers has nothing.

And the fact that the Chargers dumped Brees like a hot potato for this sucker makes it even worse. Brees with the 2000s chargers may have been similar to the Pats.

Not to mention, he is on the wrong side of 30 (32 y.o.) as well, and will be getting worse sooner rather than later. He won't be around in 5 years.

Colts letting Manning go is child's play compared to the colossal c0ck-up that the Chargers accomplished. And it's still paying dividends for them. They're always "almost" good enough. Never good enough.
