I think Mariota is showing that he is a good blend of both. A pure running QB like BYU's Taysom Hill of Jordan Lynch from Northern Illinois is obviously a bad option...but Mariota has shown that he has great poise in the pocket and a strong enough arm to make all of the throws. Mariota has great fundamentals and he seldom makes mistakes. He is a "spark" QB...he can add a spark to our organization. On top of that...having him would open the run up as well. Sankey or Green would be considerably more productive with a QB that stretches the DLine. I am certainly on board with a mobile QB.....but he has to be a QB first and a runner second.

Maybe what I was saying was confusing. I meant "like" him as a prospect for an NFL quarterback. I wasn't asking if you wanted to be his girlfriend.

REALLY??? Give Luck Wright & Hunter this week and see what he does to a defense! Dude you are just making yourself look silly. Wright hasn't been getting the ball enough. And no matter how good the WR group w/o a decent QB to throw the ball CLOSE to on target they cannot accomplish anything. There are several QBs that would LOVE to have our WRs.

    WOW!!!

    Here's a little reality check.

As JCBrave said, if you bench Locker now, yes you can give Mett a nice long try out but you are probably throwing the season away. And for what? Because Locker hasn't looked amazing the last two games?

The FACTS are that against Dallas we had chances to tie the game and everyone (all 3 phases) failed. Against Cincy we shot ourselves in the foot again time after time. But if Cincy is such a power house, how come we outgained them, held time of possession and ran over them?

Keep in mind that Locker didn't hold in the endzone causing us to give the other team 2 pts. Locker didn't miss short field goals. Locker didn't whiff on Dalton catching a floating pass. And those guys weren't the only ones messing up either.

You wanna throw Locker away? Great. Mett would have been sacked 5-10 times in that game. Are you willing to throw this season away just to see IF Mett might develop? I'm not and it's silly to suggest it based on his nice pre-season numbers accumulated against backup players. If Locker is so bad, he'll play his way out of the job and then Mett or Whitehurst play. But you don't dump the guy after two losses. Some of you act like he's never completed a pass before and never had a good game. Someone actually said he's only played well for one half of football and 1 good throw to hunter. Really? Cuz the stats say otherwise!

I think Locker hasn't played that well the last two games but some things are being totally blown out of proportion. The pass blocking was poor and he was under a lot of duress. You know what happenes when you constantly get hit? You start acting like you have pressure even when you don't. Even Manning gets jittery if you can hit him a few times!

Someone brought up a good point. I don't think the game has slowed down for him in this offense yet. There is a lot of miscommunication and mistakes happening up front (between the OL and our RB) and it's not doing us any favors. I think Jake needs time to get used to running this offense to be more comfortable in it and so the game can slow down for him.

Additionally, we have quite the catch 22 going on. Locker throws a WR a pass and he drops it. Locker has guys open but is pressured so he misses the WR. Other times, Locker misses an open WR. Nate used to be clutch, but that seems to have gone to Wright. But Wright stumbled a few times when he was Locker's first read. Nate has been dropping the ball and Hunter has been inconsistent. This inconsistency is why they have been called out. We have a talented top 3 who - like Locker - need to be much more consistent! And our OL has to do a much better job at pass blocking! And Jake needs to settle down and not try to play outside of himself.

One thing someone pointed out is something I'm most disappointed about in the offense so far. I think Jake and the offense would do well to utilize McCluster and Sankey on passes out of the backfield. Numerous times Locker and McCluster have not been on the same page as to where McCluster was gonna break or McC wasn't looking for the ball or Jake missed him. These plays are open for the quick short throws and let McC and his speed get you some quick yards. On 3rd and sub-5, SD killed people with Woodhead all year! We aren't doing that and not even making it much of a threat. this would spread that zone out wider and give MORE room to throw inside.

In line with that, we need to get Wright and McC more touches!!! Both are explosive with the ball in space even on short throws!

Some of you suggest we should take Locker out (after 2 bad games) so we can give Mett 8 games to see what we have. Why wouldn't you give Locker the same opportunity? They have known this offense the same length of time and despite Locker's 4 years, he has less then 2 years of starts under his belt so don't look at him like he's an NFL QB with 64 starts under his belt. He needs time to develop. IF he develops, we will see. If he doesn't, someone else will get that opportunity after we are knocked out of the playoffs or once we are out of the race.

However, I'm not as down on the team as some of you and place blame where it belongs. And unlike most of you, I've had to develop players who didn't always get it over night and had to grow into their role over time. If you wanna bench Locker, you should also be suggesting you bench half the team...because we have plenty of players who are not getting it done and a couple of them don't look like they are going all out. This team has, and can, play much better than we've seen the last 2 weeks! But there is no rest for the weary as we will face arguably the best team we've faced so far. Jake and the WHOLE TEAM need to step it up! If we can play our A game, we have more then a chance.

Gut you're normally on point but you're way off on this one.Jake is as bad as everyone is saying he is. The stats don't tell the story. The season may be lost if we put Mett back there but it's most definitely lost if Jake holds on to that job.

This isn't something he'll just "play his way out of". He's been here 4 years. This is all he has. Honestly what do you think Jake's absolute ceiling is and do you think his ceiling is worth waiting another whole season for? Also if you advocate that we keep Jake in there, are you also advocating that we re-sign him at the end of the year? The way I see it, if you're not going to re-sign the guy why continue to waste time with him? He is either the worst QB in the NFL or he's just not done developing and either way that doesn't help the 2014 Titans.

I think he already hit his ceiling and we're looking at it. Maybe he could've been more but the injuries ruined his progression. Right now he has some tools but, he's just not an NFL caliber QB. Let's find out if Mett or Charlie are. If neither of them are up to the task then we know what we have to do but even if Jake gets back in there and survives the season we still won't be 100% confident that we have the right QB and after 5 years that is just unacceptable to me.
