Official Bench Locker Thread (all Locker stinks stuff goes here).

It's more complex than that. I think everyone here was rooting for Locker to succeed. And we've given him chance after chance. That's the problem. Every time he kinda sorta has you believing in him he goes out and completely s***s the bed and/or gets injured. You can only have the rug pulled out from under you so much before you get wise to it.

We will have to agree to disagree here I guess. I don't see how anyone can look at the entire body of work and say Jake is anything more than average. And to say he "far and away gives us the best chance to win" is downright laughable.

 

Hope can distort reality in a devastating fashion.

 

This is very reminiscent of the situations with Munch and CJ. What they truly were became crystal clear. But people didn't want to believe it. So they made excuse after excuse as to why they weren't getting it done. But as the weeks roll on that group of excuse-makers became smaller and smaller.

 

No one here is defending Locker's poor play. You responded as if you read what I wrote, but then posted this.

It IS NOT like CJ. It would be like a bunch of fans belly aching about CJ after two games in 2010 and demanding he be replaced by Javon Ringer. Only someone looking through jaded eyes would believe Javon Ringer was going to play better than CJ even as CJ was sucking it up.

We have one QB who has actually played games at an above average level in the NFL. We have a career backup and a 6th round pick behind him. And you are telling yourself they have a better chance to win games.

If you say that you are ready to throw in the towel on the season, and that's why you want Mett to play, I get it.

But you can't defend the logic behind two nobodies being world beaters because you're butthurt Locker had two bad games....

Hope springs eternal I guess. If you want to compare it to another situation, compare it to the cries for (LOL) Rusty Smith in 2010.

 

I'm not telling myself they give us a better chance to win. Maybe they don't. The point though is that Jake is looking lost and ineffective out there so I have my doubts that they could do too much worse. Jake is playing like one of the worst QBs in the league right now. That's a fact.

Again, you're drawing your own conclusions and putting words in my mouth. Never have I said they are world beaters, or anything even remotely close to that.

And again, it's not just about "two bad games". So you need to go on and get that out of your head. You keep wanting to say I'm just "butthurt" I guess because it sounds cute or whatever. But there are a plethora of valid reasons to not believe in Jake Locker. You still believe in him. Fine. Good for you. Enjoy the heartbreak. But don't sit there and act like the rest of us don't have good reason to be jumping ship.

You are yet to post a valid reason why you think our backups will play better. So until you start actually posting some and stop talking about them, you are acting like a typical, fickle, butthurt fan.

Boy, your reading comprehension is poor. I've already said, more than once, that I'm not convinced they WILL play better. Only that Jake is playing so poorly I don't see why we don't give someone else a shot. I don't get why you're waiting for me to supply evidence for an argument I never made.

And here you are saying that you don't know if the backups will play better, yet they should still play?

Have you given up on the season? Serious question. Because if you have, then I can at least see the logic behind bailing on Locker. But until we are eliminated from the possibility of playoffs, play the guy who gives you the best chance to win.

As far as I am concerned, there is no logical reasoning to see why that isn't Locker. Counting on either of the other two is wishful thinking on par with the Rusty Smith episode of 2010.

 

If Jake continues to be our starter then yeah, I'll give up on the season because I don't believe that he can play consistently well enough for us to do anything significant. I'll go ahead and say it since some believe it but won't say it. Mett is a better QB than Locker and thus gives us a better chance to win. In Mett I've seen the things I would like to see in a QB. I have not seen those things in 4 years of Locker. It doesn't mean I'm right but this is what I see and what I believe.

 

Okay then.

I haven't "given up" on the season. But I will say I think it's very unlikely we make the playoffs. And that's with Jake starting, with CBJ starting, or with Mett starting. I'm not expecting our backups to work miracles or be the savior. I'd just like to see what they could do as I've seen enough of Jake.

That said, I don't even care if Jake gets another shot. My expectations are so low at this point it's not even worth fretting over. But my main thing is I'd like to see Mett get a shot while the team is still playing for something. If we wait until we're out of the playoffs guys are going to be out there half-@$$ing it and we're likely not going to learn as much about Mett.

I just wanna know where we stand with Mett before next season. In this league you simply aren't going to win consistently without a QB and I'm sick and tired of the wasted seasons.

At this point I'll take "wishful thinking" over what we've been getting from Jake.

Anyway, I'm tired of going around and around over this. In my mind Jake Locker sucks and is clearly not the answer for this franchise. I don't see him leading us to the playoffs and that's the whole point of all this. Therefore I'm perfectly content to play for the future.
