I will be visiting knoxville, unfortunately I will be arriving after the game, but I will be in town for the week. Any recommendations of things to do or places to go? It is a business trip so I will be working all day but I definitely want to check out the market square at some point. Any good places to get titans paraphernalia?

    Thanks

Well, you'll find more UT apparel than anything. As far as Titans gear goes pretty much anywhere...cheap too. (no reason to explain price.)

    - Farragut/Turkey Creek (outside of Knoxville)
    - Gay Street
    - Market Square
    - The Strip (Cumberland Ave)... although this will be full of college kids (and lots of douchebags/sluts)
    - Old City
    - UT campus

That is the best I can do. I seriously hate Knoxville, so that's about as much as I can recommend. And I honestly think that's about all there is worth seeing. And the UT campus is actually pretty ugly for the most part, but it may be worth it to check out Neyland since it's one of the biggest stadiums.

    LOL emo/wrist?! Haha

No... Maybe you haven't spent much time in Knoxville recently. But it sucks.

Everyone I've met here from Nashville hates Knoxville. People who love Knoxville are the ones from the boonies who've never seen more than five people at a time.

Yea... there are some nice people here... and they're mostly stupid and have an accent that fits the TN stereotype perfectly. I'm sure Mississippi folks are nice (if you're white). Doesn't mean I would want to visit.

This is a map that should be distributed to all guests entering Knox County.

    • Native Knoxvillian think their city is the pinnacle of culture and philosophy
    • They find it superior to the rest of the state, even Nashville.
    • Market square is not special. I'm not sure why people think it is but every small to mid sized city in the country has a section JUST LIKE IT.
    • Old City is a death trap of drunks and college clichés and old creepers.
    • Campus is nice, especially this time of the year.
    • Gay Street is pointless outside Downtown Grill & Brewery.
    • Turkey Creek area is a wasteland of big box stores, chain restaurants and strip malls.
    • Craft beer culture is out if control in Knoxville. It is in Knoxville what it was around the rest of the country 5 years ago. They behind.
    • That said, Bearden Beer Market will do.
    • Everyone in Knoxville talks about Asheville, NC. A lot. They really like it.
    • Everyone cheers for insert Peyton's team here _________
    • Avoid the east, north and south sides of Knoxville. Enjoy the west side, campus and downtown.

Knoxville is a nice town to get drunk for a couple days and watch a football game and then go home.

Some of us chose to stay for years and go to school. Only then do you see Knoxville for what it is.
