Webster hasn't hit any home runs as GM but a lot of his picks are young. Reinfeldt blew a lot of early picks.

The string of bad first and second-round picks this franchise has had over the past decade is the #1 reason this team is where it is today, IMO.

And the one guy who he has recently, Sankey, who I honestly feel can make a difference (not necessarily a stud, but could be), isn't getting play time...

You have to go all the way back to Keith Bulluck to find one that lived up to his place in draft.

Honestly, it is kind of amazing we have been as competitive as we have been.

Lewan should be playing. This is starting to get ridiculous.

I just realized that we wasted a whole draft last year. Every one of the picks plays very little or not at all... wow. A bunch of "potential" players that never turn out for the Titans. They have to start swinging for the fences instead of trying to polish every turd they think may be able to play 3-4 years down the road. At least if we trade away picks and get one awesome pick, something is gained. Instead they draft 5-6 guys that sit on the bench or are mediocre and get dumped in a few years anyway.

I've never really followed the draft or college players at all... Looking at the draft throughout the years the one that stands out to me most is 05... Looks like the Lions traded up 4 spots in the second and we ended up with Stewart and Roos for that pick. Why can't we get value like that now?

One thing is clear, it's risky taking athletes instead of football players - especially early. Last draft we didn't do that and drafted more for need (and future need). Maybe because Webster realizes we've missed on so many of the size/speed guys.

But you're much better off taking a good player in rounds 1 and 2 rather than gamble on a guy getting all the lights turned on a becoming a perennial Pro Bowler. Justin Hunter and Zach Brown are examples of gambling early.

I'm much happier when we take a Sankey-type player in rnd 1 or 2 (where you have a pretty good idea of what you have) and gamble later on a taylor Thompson type in rnd 5! And gambling on players can go the opposite of the superior size/speed guy. You can have players who are on the low end of NFL averages for their position but are very good players. These are gambles too and also good gambles in the middle rounds. Verner is an example of this type of gamble.

Now Hunter still has a chance to become a poor man's Megatron, but he has to not only learn but own all the little details he missed as a very raw WR in college.

Not to mention CATCH THE BALL! Don't be a JAG Justin. We need more!!!
