Mettenberger Time?

    We're back to tanking the rest of the season so you can get your better draft picks. It must suck to be a fan of a team you want to see lose. I choose to hope Whiz makes this team more competitive beginning Sunday. It's why he was hired. I want to see improvement with the best players available on the field.

    Guess what? This team has had plenty of high picks the last few seasons. One of reasons were are mediocre now is that the players taken rarely hit. All picking earlier does is give you more players to choose from. It doesn't guarantee success.

    At the moment our roster won't change and our Coaching staff won't change. Already being 1 and 4 means that unless people get their chit together and fast , this season is a wash for a franchise in arguably the weakest of all divisions. Feels good doesn't it.

    IMO unless by some miracle of unsubstatiated proportions things turn around which I can't see , then the franchise might as well use the remainder of the season to evaluate EXACTLY where we are. Throw Mett , Stafford , Lewan and whoever else is riding the pine into the mix to know exactly what we HAVE got.

    From that point and assuming that Webster and hopefully most of the scouting staff are rightly going to bite the bullet and be the patsys in this whole sad debacle , then I would get Whizz to sit with the new guy and the new scouts and be in no doubt as to what we have and what we need so that this can be properly addressed going forward in free agency and the draft.

    Once this has been implemented then Whizz has no default position about the team he inherited. We have nothing to lose and if we do can it for the year , we also get a high first round. The draft is a crapshoot but I'll take any bonus that this heap of turd so far this year will offer me.

    I'd like to see this thread if Whizz maintains the Status Quo and presides over another abject failure against "officially" the worst franchise in the NFL on the 12th. Could get a bit gritty .....

    These are all very different situations. Lewan is a early first-round pick. He'll be starting next season. Getting him on the field is important so would not be surprised to see it happen after the bye week. BTW, he has played already quite a bit and his immaturity is leading to personal fouls. Regardless, he'll see a lot more work the second half of the season.

    Whiz should see what he has in Mett in four games. If they are out of it the end of November and have decided Locker's fate, then I have no issue giving him a shot. How long did it take the Titans to get an idea of how well Rusty would do as a starting QB?

    I understand why fans can't bring themselves to cheer for tanking, but I think it's very clear that there is no hope for these current Titans and the best way for this team to improve is with a highly drafted quarterback behind center. I want Mariota and the way to make that happen is for the Titans to lose every remaining game this season. I'll be cheering for them to lose.

    I'm not looking for the team to tank, I just believe we should be moving into "desperate" mode and see what we have in the younger guys - after the BYE.
