The Frankenstein theme is one of- if not THE- most common themes in Hollywood movie history.

Aside from all the ones that actually have Frankenstein in the name the list includes all the 'man plays God, creation rebels' storylines such as "Bladerunner" and "Splice".

And I absolutely disagree with the panning of the Branaugh/Deniro version. I get that it doesnt fit the campy silliness of all the Halloween faves on the list but Mary Shelley wasnt trying to write that sort of dreck.

Sorry, that film was wretched. The pacing is out of control and everything feels disjointed - like watching 2.5 hours of "Highlight's from last week's episode of Sons of Anarchy". Beyond that it's not really a horror film or at least the the type I'm after. Very little positive to say about that one. The filmmakers basically admitted the movie was crap and I won't be the one to argue with them..

Sans the casting of Keanu that production company got is correct with Bram Stoker's Dracula which only just misses the mark as one of the great modern gothic films.

I haven't even watched one horror movie this October. Shameful.

The wife and I usually watch a ton all throughout October. Just been busy and our free time has been spent catching up on TV shows.

Sun-Wed we typically watch shows starting at around 8:30. Catch a couple one-hours and maybe an old Star Trek.. Thu-Sat this time of year are movie nights..
Fearfest just started so there's that too..

I just bought an all-regions DVD player so we could get a couple of the Hammer sets that that for whatever reason they don't want to release for the US..

The all-region players seem like 90's junk though. Surprised I was able to hook it up to a modern TV..
