I want to see him because he stands in the pocket with NO fear... like a leader should!!

Not freaking out like Duck and Mole, even Braxton and Johnny.... He stands tall in the face of pressure and delivers on the mark... I'd rather have that, than a Hot Shot... a Leader over a Hot Shot anyday of the week!!!

Lol. Broken Arrow goes back and rates one of my posts bull**** because I rated him a troll for not trying to have an actual discussion.

Isn't there an 18 or older requirement on this board?

I want to see Mett. Not because I think he is going to save the season or be the next Manning. I want to see him because there is no way to know what he has until he gets some real playing time. We need to know before this season is over if he can produce. I highly doubt he will be great, but I really hope he is great so should the rest of us. We have far too many holes on defense that need to be addressed. If Mett could work out we would be able to use that 1st round pick on defense and we need to in a very bad way!!!

I fully expect Mett to play like a rookie, or even a 6th round pick, but to have hope for next season I have hope he works out. I know it is misguided hope, but man we need that first pick on D!!!

I think it's disingenuous to label him an "average sixth round pick" though. We're not talking about Rusty Smith out of Florida Atlantic here. Without the injury and the off the field stuff I think he's a 3rd round pick, easy. Possibly even a 2nd. The talent is definitely there.

I don't get the whole wanting to write him off before he's even played a game thing.

    Pocket awareness

Accuracy and not overthrowing wide open WR's and TE's.

Showing the ability to go through progressions

If he shows all of those, I am fine going with him next season and drafting defense high. I don't care if he comes in and doesn't light it up. I just want to see promise.

If we lose the next 4 our best possible record if we won out would be .500. If we don't start Mettenberger at that point then Whisenhunt is an imbecile.

If it was my decision I'd start Mettenberger after the bye week. If Locker returns and stays healthy and we win every game are we going to re-sign Locker? Slim chance because long term you still wouldn't trust him to stay healthy. Anything less from Locker and there's not a chance we re-sign him. Wtf would you keep playing Locker or CBJ?

I see no benefit of playing Locker. Even if he takes us to the playoffs, I would not be happy signing him to an extension. Play CBJ, insert Mett after the bye.

And if he doesn't do well do we chalk it up to him being inexperienced/not ready or just not very good?

There's no way the organization can make the determination that he's the guy other than him playing out of his mind. That's what I was trying to say earlier, although I didn't do a very good job of it.
