Mettenberger Time?

Jake Locker returns to as the starter against the Texans and has the Titans in the position to go into the second half ahead, until a brutal sack by the combination of Watt/Clowney sidelining him again this year. Whitehurst comes in yet again to blow the lead by barely managing the game. Whisenhunt frustrated by CBJ inability to finish games and Jake Locker being made of glass he preps the Titans during the by week for the Mett era.

 

Whitehurst is our best QB and we should go with him period. He could be one of the few positives in what otherwise has been a sh*t season. He could be our guy the next 2-3 seasons.

Mett has a 4 year contract so there is no rush to evaluate him or rush him out there at all. Let him learn for a year. We know he has the tools no need to mess with his head by rushing him out there.

 

There is a rush to see Mett play, IMO. His play could be the difference between drafting a Qb early or getting a stud defensive player.

Mett is more poised in the pocket as a rookie then Mr. Jitters. He can't even put away a 1-5 team and could barely put up points against an 0-5 team, yet he's our best QB.

Whitehurst has a 93 passer rating with 5 TDs and 2 ints. It would be obvious to an idiot he has been our best QB. Sounds from your post that you don't need to see Mett play you are already convinced he is god! Mett was 2 of 5 with a pick in his only play.

The issue with Whitehurst is can he play well over a long stretch, can he lead as a #1 QB instead of just being a fill in guy. We don;t know that because he hasn't started many games. I would like to find that out.

You just want to sh*t can the whole season for a higher pick.

 

Haha do you have a reading comprehension problem? I never said Mett was a god, but it is very apparent he is more comfortable in the pocket then CBJ.

CBJ is asked to do very little in the passing game, usually throwing short routes and his check downs. When he is asked to throw deep it's usually overthrown and high leading to his turnovers.

Mett is 2 for 5 and 1 int. That was with limited reps and a poorly overthrown throw. Reps as the starter and some experience, instant upgrade to #checkdowncharlie #clipboardjesus. There's a reason for those nicknames.

 

It's hard to say who our best QB is when one of them hasn't even seen the field.

And Whitehurst could be our guy for the next 2-3 seasons? Are you kidding.

And as has already been said, there absolutely is a rush to evaluate Mettenberger. Barring some sort of miracle we're going to be picking in the top 5 next year. We MUST evaluate Mett before then. If we pass on a QB and it turns out Mett sucks then we just blew a potentially golden opportunity. And on the flip side if we take a QB early and Mett turns out to be the better player then we just blew a top 5 pick on a guy who is no use to us.

 

I'm real impress with CBJ 2-5 career record. Not to mention the scrub teams he has started against. Can't wait to see RollTide man crush face Watt/Clowney next week.

 

Whitehurst is the best KNOWN commodity we have for QB. Mett is an unknown.

He might suck. He might be great. He might be slightly better than both of our other QBs.

 

Why does Whitehurst have an average yards per attempt of 7.8 if all he does is check down? That is slightly above the league average.

You understand that a passing rating involves all areas of statistics. A high completion percentage does not guarantee a high rating of the ypa is low. Trying to sum up a QB with generalizations does not work. A 93 rating is pretty good no matter how you slice it.

You want to give particular qualities to Mett when he has not played. If we judged players based on preseason Javon Ringer would be in the hall of fame.
