I sadly have just come to grips that little of our roster seems like they can bring any sort of playoff success to Tennessee. If anyone is calling for our guys I think we should trade them for as many draft picks as we can get and just blow up this whole F'n roster again.

Build around on defense of Casey, Mccourty (he's not a number 1 corner), Wilson (has looked better) and who else? Isn't everyone else mediocre to crap at this point? Who else?

We've whiffed on so many recent draft picks that it's embarrassing. Ayers? Brown? Hunter? None have panned out. Everyone is going to keep saying Hunter needs time but it doesn't look like he'll ever get it. On offense who is there to keep....uhhhh...uhhh (shakes head) uhhh Delanie Walker? Kendall Wright? I haven't seen enough of Sankey but he hasn't impressed so far that's for f'n sure.

Our o-line? Uhhh uhh. They're awful.

How does a GM who has missed on almost the entirety of his picks still have a job? Drafting Lewan was a pure luxury pick. Until this franchise stops settling for midrange picks we're never going to be in a position to draft a megatron/true lock down corner/ Jameis Winston.

Blah blah I'm rambling. I wish somehow we had assets to trade to get two first rounds maybe move down in that choice or are so bad we can reboot the franchise in next years draft. Sign a couple BIG free agents (Suh would be mighty nasty beside Casey but obviously we would need to change 3-4)and give this team an identity cause right now there is none.

O line held up to one of the most talented D lines in the league today. We just had too many holding calls and negative yards to get any sort of drive going. Also because of the 1st and 20's, watt was able to go full bore and tee off. Still didn't take over the game like he normally does.

Sankey was only given carries as a "save some field advantage" draw for the most part. He did decent when we were completely behind. This isn't a running offense tho so don't be too worried he's not adrian Peterson. He's looked good. Better than earlier in the year.

Realize we are starting a purely rookie core on offense right now.

Rookie QB, RB, LT, and WRs that havnt become anything more than a 2-3 on any other team. So what. It is what it is. The mettenberger era is gonna start slow. Unfortunate that the offense hasn't clicked but what did you expect with only one week of starter reps with the first team?

Oh good, I was waiting for another one of these well thought out posts that detail what we should do.

I think we've hit the Sunday quota of 45.

Was impressed with LB Williamson. He was everywhere today. We have some good young talent but not enough . Our OL is really hurting us. Warmack is not good. Where he was drafted he should be way better. Levitre is having bad year and so is Oher. Need OL but need defense playmakers as well.

If by "fire everything" you mean fire Webster, Griffin, Levitre, Wreh-Wilson, and Greene, then I agree.

Warmack was awful. On the two point conversion try, he completely missed watt. Just awful. Watt whipped him all day.

All of this in response to CDUBBS original post.

Here let me break down the players you mentioned:
Casey/McCourty (Bona Fide Keepers) - obvious staples of our defense. Casey is an All-Pro. McCourty isn't shut-down level but he is pretty good in man-to-man with the exception of keeping up with the very elite WRs(Dez/AJ/Andre(?)), but who can really cover those guys without question other than revis?
BWW(?/Keeper/Backup) - i don't know. at the beginning of the season he looked awful but it seems like he is getting the hang of it... was all over hopkins on some plays against houston but others was not... I'll save my thoughts on him until after the season and I see what he's got to offer. either way he stays and at minimum is our 3rd corner next year.
Brown (?/Keep/Locker)- in a sort of locker-esque scenario... shows flashes but the injury bug has got him. he will be facing a locker situation next year I think.
Ayers(RIP) - not a bad player(not great either) but clearly didn't gel with the new horton defense, a casualty in the defensive scheme change
Hunter(?/Keeper) - also not sure about him... I think he can take washington's spot next year after he's gone but clearly he needs to learn to catch. never seen someone considered a "#1 receiver" on a team drop so many passes, it's embarrassing really. Washington is clearly better than him still but hunter needs the reps and whiz is bombing the season right now so no better time than now. he stays and will still be #1 next season because we have more dire needs this offseason.
Walker(Keeper) - I don't know why you're even questioning him. he is the real deal and has shown that when given the chance he can make big plays even after the catch. I am so glad we swapped Cook for him basically, best move ever, cook sucks.
Wright(Keeper) - again, don't question my boy. wright is a great slot receiver and we should be happy to have him. give him the ball in space more... before 3rd and 15+ preferably.
Griffin(BYE) - sucks. overpaid and blows big plays constantly. sometimes does good things but messes up more often than not. not worth the contract anymore. I don't think this is a scheme issue, it's an ability issue. He would be great as a 3rd safety perhaps but his contract is for a #1 so he gets the axe.
Pollard(?/Veteran Need) - dunno. I like the guy and the mentality he brings. but he also brings late hit penalties, whether he actually commits them or not. and somehow, it also makes his teammates create more late hits. when he's out, we get far less late hit calls it seems. he's not bad and could fit in the scheme but the amount of penalties he creates really kills his value. But, I think keep because he only has 1 year left on contract and it's hard to give a starting safety spot to a rookie, and no FAs ever want to play for the lowly titans. but he hits the bench/trade block if it starts losing us games.
Wilson(Keeper) - he's not amazing but he's better than Griffin I think and he could be the patch for a while until we groom Huff or a draft pick this year into the spot.
Succop(Keeper) - if we can get him long-term for semi-cheap, do it. He's consistent enough and cap space needs to be spent on more important positions
Yeah... yeah. Lewan looks good, Oher doesn't look too bad, Levitre needs cut and replaced because he was supposed to be a sure bet and we gave him a contract reflecting that, Warmack I think will end up being a real pro, he just wasn't as NFL-ready as originally thought, give him time to gel, schwenke... i dunno, we tried a late-r round pick on him and it doesn't seem to have paid off. give him the rest of the season to see if he gels otherwise center is a concern we may(will probably) have to address.

As a group this O-line sucks. I don't know what the F@CK is wrong with them but that houston game was winnable except we started every drive in the 1st half at 1st & 15+ because of some lineman holding, jumping, or hands-to-the-face-ing. I was disgusted by it and by the beginning of the 2nd quarter even the commentators were talking about how bad it was, and it continued into half time. I know it couldn't have happened but I wish Munchak could have stayed as an O-line coach. He wasn't a great head coach but the O-line was his bread and butter. our lineman need a kick in the @$$.
Lewan was a luxury pick because whiz didn't know what he had but he knew he was going to need a new LT after this season no matter what so he got the pick out of the way to use our first pick next spring on whatever he decideded is the most glaring need at the time... If we didn't have Lewan right now our O-line would have stingily starting on it... it was a good pick that is actually paying off right now.
A lot of Websters old picks are awful, I agree, and he should have been fired for those already. But I actually think this last years wasn't too bad. Mett in the 6th? Williamson in the 5th? Lewan? Sankey(should have been hyde)? all pretty good players already and 4 out of 6 getting production already is a good ratio not even 1 year into their new careers. He and whiz have a plan and if you remember Webster was the one who lured him here in the first place. Media said Webster was practically the entire reason he chose nashville. (I think it's because webster and the new owner agreed to let whiz blow up the team if the old players didn't fit) We will not be rid of Webster until we are rid of Whiz, period.

Other picks from last season that you didn't mention(and my thoughts):
Williamson(Keeper) - I don't know if you've been watching the last 2 weeks but williamson has quietly been great for a rookie. and he was a 5th round pick. 5th round! he's getting better every week and is a nice fit in hortons system it seems...
Sankey(Keeper) - I wanted Carlos Hyde. I'm from Ohio, O-H!, we should have Hyde and it seems he's been doing better than Sankey... although his O-line is substantially better as well. Sankey is solid, with that O-line no one really knows what he can do yet, but we can't waste another high pick on a RB because they are a dime a dozen in Free Agency and in the Undrafted market.
Huff (?/Backup) - don't know much about him, he's been getting more reps but honestly haven't seen any real big plays made by him... but we need veteran bodies eventually so let him get some experience.

METTENBERGER(saved for last) - note: I was totally against Mett starting vs the cows. it's only been 1 games so this could easily change with good/bad play the rest of the season. after seeing his first game he is clearly not a scrambler like we are used to in Tenn. But that's for the best, it's nice seeing our QB step up in pressure and make throws confidently instead of doing the locker shuffle before collapsing/tripping(somehow CBJ & locker both do this). I think he did pretty good his first game, and shows real promise. 299 yards, 27/41(65.9%) , 2 TDs, and 1 INT is a solid rookie first game outing, especially against a houston defense that is (let's be honest) on another level when it comes to pass rush. sacked just two times(both Watt). his interception was a bad decision, and there were some off throws, but overall, he shows promise and looks like exactly what whiz wanted, a pocket QB to mold. If he plays like this against everyone the rest of the season we may not get as high of a pick as we wanted but we also won't need a QB. However, if he breaks down and ends up playing awful in the 2nd half of the season, we will be in line for Mariota, who is the only logical choice at that point. The front office reportedly didn't pick Manziel because of his off-field issues, there is no way they will take Jameis, his are much worse. Mariota is extremely accurate and a great decision maker when it comes to tossing passes. only 1 INT this season so far with like 24 TDs. I think he'll likely win the heisman.

But like I said, if Mett plays well like he did today against houston I think we roll with him and maybe a veteran FA to fight for the spot with in camp.

    Draft/FA Thoughts:
Picking up Suh would be awesome! But, in reality, I don't see Suh coming to Nashville. We are bad, Suh wants to win a ring. I honestly think Suh will resign with the Lions. Unless he and Casey have some sort of connection and want to team up to be a dynamic duo together, he's a pipe dream. We have many other needs like Linebackers and a corner, and numerous offensive lineman, and a pass rusher. I doubt webster/whiz even look his way.

I am hoping Hoyer gets de-throned in Cleveland and we pick him up(moderately cheap) to compete with Mettenberger or a rookie(or both).

I think Horton will find the right LBs in the draft to fill his 3-4 holes. he picked Williamson in the 5th and he seems like a fit already.

I think the first pick should be defensive, unless Mett picks boogers all 2nd half of this season, in which case we should be high enough to pick Mariota first. He's crazy accurate and athletic. Needs to learn to sit in the pocket a bit more but is a great player. Potential Heisman winner this year. Only if Mett really sucks though.

Im a little bummed we lost, but other than maybe 4 plays Im really not that mad with yesterdays showing.

Arian Foster has a unique running style, we came down hill hard and stopped him most times, he's just an elite runner and showed everyone why. Now if Fitzpatrick won them the game Id be a lot more sour towards our defense.

I think we're heading in the right direction TBH.
