A lot of the FA signings haven't panned out, but at least (for once as a franchise) we are actually targeting guys and doing what it takes to get them.

I would rather overpay someone that can help the team, than underpay someone that will add nothing.

It sucks that some of the FAs didn't pan out like we wanted them too, but if the last couple years are any indication, then we will continue to go after top FAs (rather than the MR approach of letting the 1st wave go by then picking the left overs)

There are far too many factors that go into whether or not an FA pans out or not. All the GM can do is get the best options available and hope for the best. Realistically, the BEST you should hope for is about 50% of your FAs to really come in and make an immediate and long lasting impact on the team.

The WORST thing a GM can do is become stubborn, and not admit when they were wrong about an FA. If they don't work out, cut them and try someone new.

People act like we are a perennial playoff team and players flock to come play for us. We are going to have to outbid teams to get players to want to come to Tennessee.

Lets not forget Levitre was a pro bowl player before signing w/ Tennessee and played every position on the line for the Bills. (Yes he has not lived up to his contract

Greene another player who was good for his previous team (Yes he did not live up to his contract but again the contract is justifiable)

Walker was probably Webster best free agent so far

Pollard/Wilson also have been solid signings by Webster

Nevertheless, nobody wants to play for us. If you want us to get any kind of talent in Tennessee we are going to have to overpay

Levitre was the best available at a HUGE area of need. People would have been just as pissed of as they are now if we would've lost out on him. At least we are making a real effort to upgrade. Plus, it helped us to get rid of Amano (who was already being way overpaid).

Green was probably paid so much because they thought he would take over for CJ (which would've happened if Green could stay healthy). When healthy Greene has been a solid player for us.

Walker and Fitz (at the time) were good signings. Along with Pollard and Wilson.

Oher and Wimbely were just two signings out of desperation. We desperately needed someone at each of those positions.

When did Levitre go to the pro bowl? Thats my point, if people thought he was our savior, well do I have news for you... he was however the best Guard when he hit the market.

Ive always looked at Levitre as a 2nd tier Guard.

My bad should have looked it up first I thought he made it to a pro bowl in one of his last years w/ the Bills.

This has been the history with Titans free agency.....remember when we made Nancy Thigpen one of the highest payed WR that year? He did squat after he signed the hefty contract. And Titans pretty much went to the SB without him cause he got hurt. It was said the slant to Dyson would have been to him if he was healthy and he was a bigger reciever than Dyson....oh well.

Carla Pickens????? Yet we let go of our best WR in team history for a couple of dollars - D-Mase

It's been a typical historical issue with this team....

All our playmakers have been home grown

I think some of you are vastly overrating the importance of free agency. When do teams like Green Bay, Seattle or Pittsburgh (three teams that are almost always good) spend on free agents? Never. They wait it out and find the occasional bargain.

One Michael Bennett at a way-below-market-value contract is worth 10x more than a player like Levitre who's being paid way over market value to produce way below.

That's not to say one shoe fits all. Some teams, like the Broncos, have been very smart in targeting free agents and paying them a lot. But the key difference is that those teams are on the verge of a Super Bowl and their FAs put them over the top.

The Titans are way closer to the Raiders than the Broncos. They are just throwing cash at C+ players in hopes they will come to Tennessee.

Build through the draft. Keep your own players. Don't waste money in FA until you're a true contender. That's the recipe the Titans should use.

The problem is that 1) Webster can't draft, 2) he shows no ability to find a bargain in FA.

So now we dont wait it out til phase 2 of the signing period and get bargain deals? Come on you know thats not true.

Every team gets some bargains and at no point did I say or imply otherwise. Don't reframe my argument. Every single time, you seem to miss the point.
