Can't hit a home run if you don't swing again. Hopefully a fresh face (not Webster) gets to make the call this time around.

    I disagree.

Yes, you do need a good QB but not all drafts are equal. You cant just take a QB in the top 10 picks for the sake of taking a QB. He NEEDS to be a guy you believe in or else you will be stuck for 4-5 years (because no one will give up on a 1st round QB sooner than that).

A later round pick is easier to move on from, and you can still build a good team around him and win games. And you don't have to have a top pick to get a QB.

Just look at all the SB winning QBs over the last 10 years and where they were drafted:

Russel Wilson - 75th overall pick
Joe Flacco - 18th overall pick
    Eli Manning - 1st overall
    Aaron Rodgers - 24th overall
    Drew Brees - FA pickup
    Big Ben - 11th overall
    Peyton Manning - 1st overall
    Tom Brady - 199th overall

Most of these guys weren't top 10 picks. They went to a team that already had a lot of the pieces around them (which is why they were able to have success).

Webster will be here next season. That's one of the problems. I don't want him touching a QB.

I thought we hired more scouting staff last season but can't find anything on it. (On my phone and it's slow today)

What I don't want is for us to reach. I'd much rather go with Mett if he looks good enough, and build the team. We suck in almost ever phase of our game and need lots of starters.

I don't want to reach, just because we are searching for thst top QB.

Mett has some promise but it's impossible to say anything after one game. I'll revisit the idea of drafting a qb after a few more starts. I just know all of these changes we made last season, will be for nothing if we miss on a qb again.

then we should draft 2 QB's to compete with Mett.

If we can't find one capable QB in the bunch then just forfeit 2015 and try again in 2016

Big Ben, Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kapernick, Andy Dalton, Wilson what did these Quarterbacks have in common? Solid run game and defense when they took over. Any of them top 10 picks? Nope.

You're just cherry-picking here. Far more QBs picked outside the top 10 are busts. Get a real argument.

The best way to find franchise QBs is to use a top-10 draft pick. It's still a very risky proposition, but there's no guaranteed way to find a top QB. You have to take a risk.

I will be on the Sean Mannion bandwagon all season. Played poorly his year after a great junior year (lost a lot of talent around him) has some of the best mechanics coming out of this draft. Could land him in the 2nd or 3rd (if not later) due to lack of production.

Then turn around and pick-up a guy like Bo Wallace/Brandon Bridge late round or UDF.

Lets look at the QB's taken since 2000 in the Top 10
    2014- Blake Bortles
    2013- None
    2012- Andrew Luck/RG3/Tannehill
    2011- Cam/Locker/Gabbert
    2010- Bradford
    2009- Stafford/Sanchez
    2008- Ryan
    2007- Russell
    2006- Young/Leinart
    2005- Smith
    2004- Manning/Rivers
    2003- Palmer/Leftwich
    2002- Carr/Harrington
    2001- Vick
    2000- None

Only 1 has won a superbowl for their team. I see more busts than anything. The only way you draft a QB top 10 is if you know damn well they are a can't miss prospects. Do you see Mariota/Winston as a can't miss? I see 5 maybe 6 franchise Qb's since 2000 taken in the top 10.

If I saw a Peyton Manning/Andrew Luck type QB coming out yeah I can justify using our first round pick on him but I don't. Winston I would if it wasn't for his character concerns.

Mentioning Bo Wallace as a guy to draft discredits your whole argument. He is no where near an NFL quality QB.

Having a solid running game and defense is no doubt the best way to break in a rookie QB.

Drafting a QB is a crap shoot no matter where you take them, but your odds are better at finding your franchise QB if you draft one early.
