I have no idea if Webster cares about backlash. Other posters seemed to imply that the Warmack pick was made because people outside the franchise believed o-line was the biggest need.

What I do know (and what I said) is that good GMs don't care about backlash. That's the kind of GM I want.

Also, are you under the impression that one surprising pick somehow proves what a GM believes one way or the other? To make any conclusions about a GM's philosophy, you need to look at a heck of a lot more than one draft pick.

This is dumb. We're arguing about something I didn't even say.

Say what you want about Webster, but it's those Reinfeldt drafts that are REALLY cringe worthy.

I've always been a big fan of Webster but now I am obviously questioning that.. Warmack, Brown, Hunter, Gooden are concerning picks if they don't pan out..

Gooden is a ?? to me, he had solid outings before Williamson took over.

Here is our 1st round picks throught the years since Steve Mcnair... I see we had 8 picks that worked out of the 20 we had on this list.

Woolfolk was a complete bust, Pacman, Britt, & Young would have worked out if not for personal childish/immature/character issues. Locker may have worked out if not for injuries and Griffin has had some good years in the past.

You can comb thru any teams 1st picks, we're no better or worse than everyone else. Difference is we've had no QB.

Agreed.... and sets your team back for at least a 5 year spiral.

I believe Pacman and Britt would have been stars if not for their personal issues and VY may have developed into a decent QB.

Wow, what a depressing read and sadly accurate to the bone... I agree with everyone that says Webster will be here for the foreseeable future based almost exclusively on the whole "we need a year or two to fully execute a ground up rebuild" excuse. Sad thing is the Oilers/Titans have had a pretty inglorious history picking up garbage FA's, it's hard to fathom how they can be so inept when you compare them to say teams like Seattle, Denver, Baltimore, and New England... Pretty certain we are just cursed with inept management at every level (at least since Floyd Resse was fired).

I wish we had a better idea of who was pounding the table for each draft pick. For all we know, Webster defers to his scouts and coaches. Or maybe he pushes hard and some of the busts are totally Webster's fault. We just don't know.

Webster is on goTitans and he follows Alex... Alex has been pushing drafting a QB every year for about 2 years now, and its a good idea if you lack a franchise QB.
