Ultimately Webster is in charge of the entire show though. If the scouts or coaches aren't getting it done then it's his job to get new people in those positions. I think a quality GM should be competent in player evaluation themselves though.

They should be, but what GM has the time to keep up with every prospect? None.

GM's are only as good as their scouts.

Surely they're aware of the top 50-60 players.... and that's where he's failed hardest.

    IDK that he has.

2011 - QBless Titans needed to replace VY with another running QB to compliment CJ2K, who's call was that? Webster? Munchak? Reindfeldt? Bud?

    2012 - Kendall Wright - good player

    2013 - Chance Warmack - TBD

2014 - Taylor Lewan - good player, maybe elite some day

Thats not bad at all if Chance pans out...

And if Mettenberger turns out to be a franchise or even serviceable QB, thats great drafting. Bishop Sankey in the 2nd round, after moving back 10 or so sports? Great job IMO.

IDK, Im mad this season was blown too, but Im not looking at Webster, Webster isn't out there calling bad plays or negating plays with penalties, our teams issues are on the field issues IMO.

I'm hoping the referees at practice and accountability for the penalties helps a lot. If not have to replace the problems. Something has to give .

As for Mett, saw he was rated as high as second round with some draft nicks ad not so high with some. Draft is a crapshoot with QB unless you have like Andrew Luck coming out.

Yeah I have always wondered how this mediocre bum college players are able to come in and flourish in the nfl. Any player from 4th round and below who makes pro bowl is extremly odd when high round talent like Ryan Leaf fail.

Not every prospect. But once they've consulted with their scouts they should at least look into the prospects the team might be targeting.

The draft is kind of a big part of a GMs job.

From what i've seen with Mett playing so far he has good pocket skills, handles pressure well and has decent accuracy. All three of those things are what many rookies struggle with and Mett seems to do pretty good with those. If Whiz honestly quits playing musical chairs with the QB position and gives Mett a chance to prove himself i think he will prove to be just what we need at the QB spot.

I don't think its all that odd. The issue is that there isn't that much difference in talent between 1st, 2nd .... 6th 7th round picks.

A lot of times the only difference is how polished of a player they are. Some players hit their peak in college others are just starting to blossom (most are somewhere in between). Some players have TONS of talent in college, but just don't put it all together until they get real NFL coaching.

It also has a lot to do with the situation they were in at college, and the situation they come into the league with. If you are on a crappy college team, then even if you are a really good player, you could be over looked for several rounds.
