Haha, yea but look how that turned out. We wasted a ton of time on a guy who was never going to come here in the first place, which resulted into losses else where in FA. If you ask me, Web and Munch were correct in their decision to not pursue the rabbit down the hole.

You can't not go after one of the best QBs of all time when he's a free agent.

And it's good that we lost out on some of the big FA names. Mario Williams would've been great, but $100mil? No thanks.

23 sacks the last two seasons and 6 this season.

Right now, Id take that over where we have spent the money.

RW is just the boss so it eventually falls on him.

Beddingfield, Gardner, Slay, Neri, Ruskell, Saige, Shelton, Sunderland, Taylor, Yowarsky, Thompson. (part of the player personnel department)

All of those guys, need to have a bonfire under their chairs.

We signed a boat load of guys with nfl experience in their late 20s and even in their 30s with the idea they could step in and contribute and fill a role right away to make us competitive and fill areas of weakness. Now 9 games in that has obviously not worked and all of those guys will likely be gone next year creating even more holes when they leave and more excuses for Whiz to fail.

Ruston needs to be criticized for that but the incredible number of these players especially on defense should be making us more competitive on the field and that's on the coaches.

George Wilson started 16 games and had 104 tackles his last year with the bills. Now he is worthless tool?

Phillips had 10 sacks in a 4-3 last year and 9.5 sacks in a 3-4 system in 2012. Now he has no talent?

Wimbley has had double digit sack seasons and is an athletic freak. We get nothing from him.

Morgan is a 6-7 sack guy and is doing that this year.

The cupboard is not bare but when you fail everybody involved needs to take heat for it.

As usual the problem with some of the analysis here is that people are all or nothing in their attitudes. If a player is not a pro bowel guy or even a hall of fame guy he sucks. We are either a super bowl team or it doesn't matter.

It does matter to me if we can compete each week and it does piss me off when mediocre teams dominate us.

I strongly disagree with your reasoning. First it IS our GM's responsibility for the draft decisions as well as personel decisions. THAT is his JOB! It is what he gets paid to do.

Saying that it is a tough job is meaningless. It's not like a 4yr old throwing darts can do better than most GM's. And we have seen some GM's are very good and others not so much!!! Webster's performance has been towards the not so much end.

And BTW, the WHOLE picture is evaluating the record, our coaches, our players, our systems, our schemes. While we have changed head coaches, scheme and some players, we still have a problem in our personel both in on the field performance as well as number of our draft picks who pan out AND are even on the team and contributing. This has been lacking which is why Webster deserves some heat. If you draft in the top 15 picks most years and do that for a decade, you team should be STACKED. And yet, we have needed free agents to plug many holes, players under performing have been given huge contracts (Levitre and Griff).

There is a lot of blame to be thrown Webster's way but of course, he is not the ONLY problem. But if part of the problem is the players, then that is as big a problem as we have. And who is responsible for the quality of the players? Webster!

He took NEED over BPA. Now if you want to get a OG, then you need to maneuver in the draft to take the OG at his value so you retain the value of your 'currency' (draft picks). But is it worth giving up a better player?

Star was cleared before the draft so the heart condition thing was pretty much a non-entity.

Taking BPA is wrong as is taking need. You need to focus on the value of your currency (to get the most out of it) and use it to match BPA with Need. You take a player at the Intersection of BPA/Need/Value.

This is the REAL reason some GM's somehow draft well every year and bad teams tend to stay bad.

You need to understand that our coaches do NOT pick draft picks. The GM DOES! Do they talk with him and explain the offense and defense and the type of players they want? Yes. But the GM has to find the players that fit at maximum talent and value.

The difference bwteen a football organization and our govt is that the coach works FOR the GM. The GM has ALL the power.

And BTW, before Webster was controlliong our players as GM, he was helping control the players as VP of Player Personel. So his fingerprints are all of this team!
