I agree. I think in a year or two, BMW will be a pro bowler. We need to find someone to play the other side. McCorty is not a starting caliber corner anymore.

I call it a good game because he played well on a big stage AS A ROOKIE. You can say that Jake played like this and was tagged as a terrible performance. Maybe so. However the big difference is Jake is a 4th yr pro, not a rookie. Anyoe who doesn't expect mistakes from a rookie QB in his 3rd game on MNF is expect way too much. I am not saying he is great, going to be great, or even good enough to be the starter. I am saying that picking on his performance last night is just looking for a reason to hate.

He made mistakes, no doubt. He responded well to them. Some of his passes were off the mark, however, not any more so than any (Including Jake) other QB we have tried this year. He is a rookie and I expect more mistakes to come as everyone else should. He did have a good game for a rookie, on as big a stage as he will play on for a while(MNF).

I don't see regression. I see him making rookie mistakes. The same ones he has made. He has made some bad throws trying to get the ball out quicker. I feel he will probably do that more in the future. At least until the game slows down for him. Remember this is his 3rd start, not 3rd season.

I love the article the other day saying he was doing 'well' against #1s. When the only #1 he shut down was the highly overrated Desean Jackson.

McCourty has been vastly overrated by many here.

I think we can agree to disagree. A rookie mistake is not any mistake. Rookie mistakes are from lack of experience, knowledge, panic, etc. Some of his mistakes are not 'rookie' mistakes so I don't excuse those as such.

Yes, Locker and Whitehurst have missed badly on a few throws but isn't Mett supposed to be the accurate one??? If one of Locker's big problems is his inaccuracy and Mett is just as inaccurate, don't you see that as a problem? And don't mistake that deep crossing throw to KW that was a bit low so KW couldn't advance the ball. That's not the kind of throw Im talking about as he did well just to get him the ball.

Pointing out mistakes is not a reason to hate. It is reality. You and many others wanted to see Mett start to see what he has...but your evaluation is skewed when you brush over non-rookie mistakes as just rookie mistakes. Do you think the coaching staff should chalk up these mistakes to just being a rookie?

Again, as I said before. He did some good things...and he did some bad things. That is the problem...inconsistency! Overall, certain inconsistencies I expect from him but others are a disturbing sign for his future as a starting QB.

I see inconsistency overall as a rookie mistake. He is a guy new to the starting role, new to the attention, new to a big game, trying to get the ball out quicker. He is trying to do so many things to improve and quiet his critics that he is making some mistakes. I think all of that has to do with being a rookie starter.
He hasn't yet matured enough in the system or the NFL not to be nervous about the things he is not doing well.

There is a lot of talk and criticism for him holding the ball too long. He does at times, I do not dispute that. However, he is focused on that. It has been a point brought up to him by media, fans, and coaches. He has discussed it himself. I see that at times he is rushing his throws to be sure he is getting the ball out quicker. He needs to get the ball out quickly, but not at the expense of his accuracy. I think he will eventually settle down and realize that. There is a happy medium. I think knowing that there is a happy medium, finding that pace, and still delivering a catchable pass will only come with playing time & experience.

I am not saying he will save the franchise & be the starter next year, or that he should. I am saying that it is still too early to know that he isn't. It is like Gruden said Monday night, "The kid has some things he has to work on. He needs to get that mental clock in his head set right. But a lot of that will come with playing time. I hope the people in TN & his coaches give him that time, but these days in the NFL that is often not the case."
All I am saying is he has only played 3 games. Before we pick him apart give him a bit of the time everyone was so willing to give Locker. I am not saying 4yrs, but this is his 3rd game; not 3rd season.

Agreed. He rushed some throws. Who doesn't against the steelers defense. Especially a rookie. We pick at him for holding ball, we pick at him for throwing to fast, we pick at him for being stationary. These games he is starting is an evaluation. He is playing for now and 2015. Everybody knows this. Locker has had his time and so his whitehurst. They couldn't get it done. Yes zach has not won a game yet as a starter, but he and we as fans need to see him play to see if he can be the guy. He has been good at times and inconsistent at times. Happens to all quarterbacks. But the QB taken before or around where he was drafted where are they? Murray, Mccaron, Fales, etc. I also heard last year Mett had one class, the rest of the time he was at LSU football complex trying to get better. Whiz said he was the first one in and the last one out. He messed up who did he blame, himself. Bad pass he said he needs to throw better ball. He not RG 3 blaming it on someone else. Give the guy a break. Sounds to me he's a player trying to improve and working hard to do it. Admirable . Let him have his chance , at end of year we evaluate him then.
