I hate to state the obvious but we need to remember that, so far, most defenses facing Mett have been playing him like most rookie QBs get played—with pressure. As his eyes get quicker, defenses will have more film to study and they'll learn his tendencies and begin to exploit weaknesses.

When this happens, I think that is when we know whether or not Mett is truly the QBOTF. This may not happen until next season but, when it does, that's the true test, IMO, of whether Mett is the long-term answer.

And he has no run offense, to help take the pressure off. I'd love some more play-action, down field throws, but it requires a run threat.

All the haters out there, remember he's a rookie and his 3rd or 4th game starting. I'm still not sold on him yet, Mett still needs more games under his belt. You can see what he can do when the Oline blocks.

I know I know we need to win now and have a franchise QB now, but that is not happening. Deal with it.

Jake just had to show "promise " in years 2 and 3 but Mett has to show things that only elite vets show less than 6 games into his career. If he doesn't play at this elite level he shouldn't get a shot next season. Seems perfectly fair and logical to me. God the bias and hypocrisy is suffocating.

Seriously. No idea why he is getting compared to like elite qb's. He's immobile, we get it, chalk up a sack or 2 per game due to him not moving enough, or getting rid of the ball. I mean, dude still isn't playing like a rookie. I'm watching other rookies around the league and Mett doesn't look anything like them.

On top of that players are saying this dude is going to be great. Certainly they are his teammates, but they COULD do the rookie thing where "he's learning, it's tough startimg out, etc" but they aren't. He seems to be impressing his teammates.

I don't understand Titans fans either. Even McNair when he started out, was getting booed, and calls for his head were on the table before he out it together and became steve mcnair. We are sitting here with this kid, who is slinging the ball around unlike anyone we've had at qb in the last 10 years, and we are what pissed because he "doesn't get rid of the ball quick enough?" Makes no sense. Go back and look at Brady's first few games. Rookie turnovers, rookie sacks, etc and he was on a Super Bowl caliber team. Look what Mett is doing with one of the worst teams in the nfl. Blows my mind how anyone could be down on him at this point. Blows my mind how "he holds he ball too long" has become the mantra for the reason this guy doesn't deserve to be in the nfl.

On a team where Michael Griffen is considered one of the top 3 defensive players, and the offensive line doesn't know how to block, and considering there is no damn franchise qb tree where you pick your franchise qb and he magically gets you a Super Bowl, Mett is OUR franchise qb. Any Titans fan who thinks drafting a top 5 qb this year will fix our franchise is delusional. We been there, done that, got nowhere.mdrafting a high qb will only set us back even further as it will prevent us from filling needs that are preventing us from winning right now. Qb just isn't one of them. Mett isn't preventing us from winning, a lot of other positions are. That's what u spend a high draft pick on.

So puzzled by the hate Mett gets

Not true, they were still playing the same D, with starters. Were they playing off...couldn't tell it by the lack of separation that J.A.G. "Justine Hunter", was not getting.

Exactly, fans are drooling when his sample size is way too small at this point. We likely won't even know for sure at the end of this season. It takes at least two seasons to fully evaluate a rookie QB and time is not a luxery Mett has.

I can't see Whiz hitching his coaching future to a 6th round QB. Plus when has Whiz ever given a QB time to develop? Never.

Whiz is on a five year deal, likely only four without significant improvement over the next year or so. He can't afford to lean on Mett even if he is a serviceable starter in this league down the line.

Remember when VY looked like a god out there his first season?

The next year, after coaches had 8 months to watch his tape and learn his tendencies, his performance dropped sharply. He didn't adapt and was done.

Mett's inability to move in the pocket and feel pressure like most traditional pocket quarterbacks will be his undoing.

If the season ended today and the draft was tomorrow, what do you think the Titans would do? Currently we'd have the 3rd pick. Would they go after Mariota, Winston, Cook or go after the best defender on the board? (I'm asking what they would do, not what you think they should do)

Personally, I don't see a "Whisenhut" type of QB worth taking that high. But one would wonder if he would be willing to draft a QB they believe is a franchise guy but have Whis tailor his offense to a more mobile type player. I would think not but it's a thought.

They go defense first if their guys is there.

I'd expect a QB in the 2nd though.

I joke a lot about Winston and Mariota but they are not fits for what Whiz does and I truly do not expect either one to end up here unless the front office/GM makes the pick for him.

At 3 if you pass on the QB then you'd better land the best defensive player in the draft and considering that we will likely be drafting behind a couple of teams that are in the same position that we are at pass rusher we might not even get the best value there.

Trade back is the best move. Target a QB and hope somebody wants to trade up to get in front of you or the team behind you.
