The fact is that there is not a got to have him guy at QB in this draft. That being said we should try to trade back & take the best pass rusher available. A good pass rusher will change our defense significantly.

End of season stats for Mariota:

    -38 Passing Touchdowns
    -14 Rushing Touchdowns
    -2 Interceptions
    -4,452 Total Yards (School Record)

So uh... given we haven't had good QB play in a decade.. get this guy.

Yes, because we know that good college stats always equate to great NFL player.

Rushing QBs are not working in the NFL anymore. Look at Kap, he was winning at an amazing pace a year or two ago. Now DCs have figured him & others out. To win you need a guy that can be a pocket passer, but get away from trouble when he HAS to. I am not sold on The Duck as being such. He very often runs to run, not looking to get the ball downfield. That will hurt him in the NFL.

Why does everyone think that it is so easy to trade back? If we trade back the chances are the best pass rusher will no longer be available. There have been so many years I would have loved to trade back. This is not the year.

We may not get a pass rusher but we can shore up our line and get some good run stoppers. Pass rush is pretty, but right now, the run defense is our biggest problem.

I only said pass rusher because that is what he was talking about. In my own opinion we need an immediate impact player and I honestly don't care the position. If we are picking in the top 3 the guy needs to come in and have an immediate impact. We have NO playmakers on this team. The only position I don't want to see taken in the top 3 is offensive line or QB. I don't give a **** if we take a kicker number one over all if he is going to win us games...

No one said it was easy to trade back, that is why I said TRY. This draft is loaded with pass rushers. Trading back gives us more picks. We desperately need more talent than we will be able to pick up in this draft. Trading back allows us to pick up more talent. Getting a guy like Shelton by trading back & possibly picking up pass rusher like Dupree late would be a big improvement.
