Signing free agents will definitely help, but they have to build through the draft as well, and Whiz needs to get his act together. ESPECIALLY with the run game. Please tell me Greene and Battle are gone next year...

I like Cobb, but he will get WAY overpaid. He best used as a slot receiver, and I believe Wright is best as a slot receiver too. Don't know if Maclin will get out of Philly, but I'd prefer him on the outside, with Wright in the slot.

Greene will be gone, you can count on it. Antonio Andrews should get his shot the next few weeks, but I'm not expecting anything great. I love the idea of adding Ryan Matthews to backup Sankey. Although fragile, he is a good runner and using him as a backup would hopefully help him stay healthy. Big upgrade over Greene. Battle is a useful ST player who is on the roster for cheap, he's a fringe roster player at best next year.

I agree with Wright and Cobb being inside, and Maclin would be a dream. Matthews does run well, but I worry about his durability. I was big on Jeremy Hill pre-draft, and sure enough he is crushing it! Granted, he has a better line, and I do think Sankey can be good in the future.

Free agency will be big for us this year in that it will help us set up our draft strategy. We all know we have some glaring holes, and regardless of FA we know a OLB is coming early in the draft. My hope is Mett continues to show enough that we give him next year to truly see what he can do. I think we will.

It's early on, but here are my projected offseason cuts on offense and defense. I will admit some may be just wishful thinking.

    On Offense:
    • Greene - take it to the bank
    • Oher - another Webster wonder
    • Craig Stevens - not needed
    • Levitre - in terms of average annual compensation, he is the 3rd highest paid OG in the league, behind only Logan Mankins and Jahri Evans!!!!!! I would cut my losses now regardless of dead money
    On Defense:
    • Griffin - need I say anything
    • Wimbley - " "
    • Hill - take his money and pay Dan Williams
    • Woodyard - makes too much to be a backup next year, assuming Brown starts, and plus I don't think he's that good
    • Gooden - not a good fit in the 3-4

It's more plausible that our McCourty would go to the Pats instead of the other way around.

They desperately need a pass rusher on defense, and some help in the secondary at CB. I pray they get a stud early and that Mett and maybe a FA can get them through until 2016, but a QB may be going round 1 as we all know...

He's doing this against CFL talent but I would give the kid a shot in training camp. Unfortunately I don't see Justin Hunter ever making anybody cringe except when he drops catchable balls and shows the mental toughness of a teenage girl.
