Look man, I know it hurts. If you're still watching these games, it has to be one of the most painful experiences as a fan of a sports team. Hell, I generally only watch the first seven minutes of the first quarter then move on to yard work and check in periodically to see if anything is happening.

I know being a fan of this team sucks right now, but I'm sorry, this idea that we're tanking is delusional. Or at least, the idea that Whiz came into this job with this intention is delusional.

Whiz was on his way to hop on a plane to go talk to the Detroit Lions about a coaching job he would have surely gotten. For me to believe what you are saying, then I have to believe that during the phone call from the Titans the thought that went through Whiz's head was, "Oh hell yes, I can tank the Titans way better than I can tank the Lions!! I can play the same QB game I played at Arizona after Kurt retired, and this time I will find my HoF QB!"

It doesn't make sense. If you're going to tank the season, why come out and stomp a playoff team at home to open the season? Why ask Jake Locker what the hell is wrong with him during the Cowboys game? Is that just incredible acting on Whiz's part? Why sit around and tell people that this team is talented and can get to a Super Bowl? More great acting? Why even bother with trying to beat the Jaguars the first go round? You know the Jaguars will be in the mix for a top pick, why give them a hand by beating them?

Look, if you were to plot this team's performance over Munch's tenure, you'd get something looking like a sine wave probably. We'd win some good games, some teams would just be better, and then for whatever reason we'd play to our competition's level when we played terrible teams. If the team had shown up for those terrible teams (Colts year 1, Jaguars every year), we'd have been in the playoffs every year Munchak was coach. Hell, even with those losses, Munchak is probably a few injuries and a few bad calls from the refs from making the playoffs once or twice.

So somehow we have gone from being on the cusp of being competitive to being cellar dwellers. You're trying to tell me that Whiz looked at this team and the Lions team and then pointed to the Titans and said, "Now that's a team I can tank for high draft picks!"

I'm not buying it, and I understand that telling yourself that makes you feel better on Sundays, and maybe makes you feel better about the Whiz hire and the future of the franchise, but you can't honestly believe that.

And if you do believe that, then consider this:
We pick on Rams fans for believing in Fisher, meanwhile Cardinals fans are picking on us for believing in Whiz.

Whiz is gone within the next four years if there's even anything left of the team by then.

I would take Fisher over Whiz at this point....Honestly, one could argue Munch...YES MUNCH...Was better. I won't lie, I wanted Munch out and I am glad he is gone, that being said, Whiz has been terrible. We are WAY worse than last year, and I wasn't sure that was possible.

Whiz took this 7 game win team from last year and made it worse cause he won't adjust his system around the players he has/had. He forces the players to adjust to his system and seems to have favorites as well.

He needs to adjust and use what he has to the fullest capacity....he is an idiot.

Nothing will remain of this team in the next couple of years except the team colors, Whitehurst, and Leon.

Goodbye T-Rac.....you dont fit in Whiz's system either.

That's an interesting theory and I don't necessarily disagree. Unpack it a little further. Who, in your opinion, is the player they're targeting that's worth signing bad free agents and tanking an entire season?

Well, this post is the definition of conspiracy theory. And I'm tempted to believe it. Stranger things have happened.

jplusip, Whiz may not have thought of it at the beginning of the season, but I think that right about now, he may be in deep thought about doing it. And who better to do it with than either Locker or Whitehurst and completely decimated lines? Heck, he can call plays that would insure losses.

    Stranger things have happened.

I don't think that Whiz went into the season expecting to tank, but I don't think he had ruled it out either.

My theory is we went into the season 'hoping' that Jake was the guy, but at the 1st sign of trouble, Whiz was ready to bail on Jake and the season.

I do think that Whiz is high on Mett though, I just don't think that he expected Mett to come in and save the season. He really just wanted to get Mett some exp, and let him go through the growing pains during a season that was shot anyway.
