Yes we have a bad OL. However run blocking is our biggest weakness.

@RavensShallBurn it's a whopping 30.1 QBR rating for Mett. Not to mention he is also another injury prone QB. Do you really want another injury prone QB!?

Dude got drove into the ground late by JJ Watt. Who wouldn't been hurt on that play? I'm curious to see how he recovers in the off-season and progress since it was his throwing arm.

Lol. He got hurt in college and he's already hurt in the pros. We don't need another dude made of glass.

I'm not 100% sure it's injury proneness as much as it is his inability to evade/elude big hits. Sorta like Big Ben. Just takes too many hits. For different reasons of course. Ones a statue, the other likes to prolong the play and it leads to getting hit a lot

But Big Ben manages to stay healthy for the most part.

    umm what lol?

Big Ben is the most injury riddled player in the league today, he's simply out of this world tough like McNair was.

I am in no way saying Mett is going to be the franchise guy or that he is going to be like any of these QB's but here is Mett's first 5 starts compared to the elite franchise QB's in today's game.

Peyton Manning first 5 starts (1-4):
    21-37 302 yards 1TD 3INT
    21-33 188 yards 1TD 3INT
    20-44 193 yards 0TD 2INT
    19-32 309 yards 1TD 3INT
    12-23 137 yards 1TD 1INT

Tom Brady first 5 starts (3-2):
    13-23 168 yards 0TD 0INT
    12-24 86 yards 0TD 0INT
    33-54 364 yards 2TD 0INT
    16-20 202 yards 3TD 0INT
    25-38 203 yards 2TD 4INT

Andrew Luck first 5 starts (2-3):
    23-45 309 yards 1TD 3INT
    20-31 224 yards 2TD 0INT
    22-46 313 yards 2TD 1INT
    31-55 362 yards 2TD 1INT
    22-44 280 yards 0TD 2INT

Aaron Rodgers first 5 starts (2-3):
    18-22 178 yards 1TD 0INT
    24-38 328 yards 3TD 0INT
    22-39 290 yards 0TD 0INT
    14-27 165 yards 2TD 3INT
    25-37 313 yards 3TD 1INT

Drew Brees first 5 starts (4-1):
    15-19 160 yards 2TD 0INT
    15-28 163 yards 1TD 1INT
    17-31 181 yards 0TD 1INT
    10-18 104 yards 1TD 0INT
    26-42 235 yards 1TD 2INT

Zach Mettenberger first 5 starts (0-5):
    27-41 299 yards 2TD 1INT
    16-27 179 yards 1TD 1INT
    15-24 263 yards 2TD 1INT
    20-39 345 yards 2TD 1INT
    13-19 184 yards 1TD 1INT

    Manning: 93-169 55% 1,129 yards 4TD 12INT
    Brady: 99-159 62.2% 1,023 yards 7TD 4INT
    Luck: 118-221 53.4% 1,488 yards 7TD 7INT
    Rodgers: 103-163 63.2% 1,274 yards 9TD 4INT
    Brees: 83-138 60.1% 843 yards 5TD 4INT
    Mett: 91-150 60.6% 1,270 yards 8TD 5INT

The numbers are pretty comparable. I think we just need to give him more time and a better Oline before we make any true judgements.

IMO if 7 had the space to step up into the pocket, if there was a pocket, then he would do so. The fact there is no place to step up into makes him a statue

I try telling Mett haters this all the time... they're too stubborn to understand.

And as you say... in no way does this mean Mett can stack up against those players. But I think he can be a very solid starter in this league. Who knows how good he'll be. He's only made six starts. Way too early to judge. But he absolutely was good enough (in a horrible situation) to move into the offseason as our starter.

That said, I hope Whiz and the FO are smart enough to not publicly commit to Mett. We need teams thinking we will take a QB with our first pick.
