I'm sure a lot would. Personally, I'd be more excited for this team than I've been in years. Don't get me wrong, I fully realize he's a gigantic risk. He could very well end up being VY 2.0. But he also has the potential to be a superstar. And I'd really hate to see his name added to the list of superstar players we passed on to draft some scrub that never panned out.

Of course all we can do is speculate right now. No one knows how his career will turn out. But he's worth the risk IMO. If he busts, oh well. It's not like we don't waste 90% of our 1st round picks anyway. And with the current rookie salary structure, you aren't handcuffed to a highly drafted QB as we were in the VY days.

    I say take the shot.

If he hadn't regressed a lot on the field this year there would be more of an argument for him ignoring the giant off the field smarts and maturity red flags. As it sits he was only in the top 10 in 2 stats, yards and INT's(which he was top 5 in). He threw more passes in 2014 than 2013 but got noticeably worse in every statistical category.

If we have to take a qb it better be the duck. Winston has EJ manuel written all over him.

Jameis is a good player, I just don't see super star potential in him. He kinda reminds me of Cutler and Stafford. He has a big arm that he'll rely on to bail him out in bad situations. Much like Cutler and Stafford, he'll have questionable decision making and high turnover numbers. Except the major difference is Winston has a lot more athletic ability. So he'll be able to extend drives or run for the first down instead of Cutler throwing into double coverage or Stafford tossing a floater up to Calvin. Over half the league will eventually want the guy once he starts playing but with the high bust risks that have been discussed at length here, he's not worth it as a top 1-3 pick for us.

Wow. A thoughtful post using observations. You sir, are very reasonable.

I see the gunslinger attitude as well.
