I had the years off, but updated them.

    Seriously, this was the trade:

Washington received: QB Robert Griffin III

St. Louis received: DT Michael Brockers, CB Janoris Jenkins, RB Isaiah Pead, G Rokevious Watkins, LB Alec Ogletree, WR Stedman Bailey, RB Zac Stacy, OT Greg Robinson

Turned out to be their DT1, CB1, OLB1, WR3, RB2, and RT1 all for RG3. I'd love to pull off the same trade with the Jets for Winston.

Just imagine we do #2 for '15 1st, '15 2nd, '15 4th, '16 1st, and '17 1st. Jets will be around 5-8 once the season ends, so our draft looks something like:

#8 - Vic Beasley, OLB, Clemson
2nd - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
2nd - Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
    3rd - Best OG available
    4th - Best NT/S available (our pick)
    4th - Best NT/S available (NYJ pick)
4th - Best WR available (Verner comp)

7 picks in the Top 150, this year. With having 2 first rounds in the next two drafts as well. Yes please.

I don't care much for drafting a QB since I have hope for Mett, but with a #1 pick it seems like you would have to draft Mariota if we didn't trade down. I think we would be reaching if we draft any defensive player at #1.

Our WRs are crap though... even Wright has pissed me off. The dude doesn't know how to run.

I think you make an interesting point, but I disagree. I see this year as very much like when Luck & Griffin came out. Now don't get me wrong, I KNOW that Mariota & Winston are not Andrew Luck or even close. However, the situation is close.

There are 2 consensus QBs that are worth taking in the 1st round. As always supply & demand fuel everything. There are teams behind us more QB needy than us (Although I will admit it is very debatable). Tampa is very QB needy & will likely take the 1st QB, (And everyone feels they will take the best option they like at QB) much like Indy in the Luck draft. That leaves 1 real option in the eyes of many teams that need a QB. The 2nd guy. (I am not going to rate which is 1 & 2 to avoid that discussion). We KNOW there are not any attractive options at QB that are even close to the other 2 options; as far as talent goes. So do the other QB needy teams. With only 1 real option left for a starting QB in this draft; anyone who is desperate for one has to go threw us to get that guy. That being said the trade market is very favorable IMO.

If we can hold on to the 2nd pick, by not being stupid and beating the Colts. There is a very real possibility that we could come out of this draft with a big haul in a trade. IMO this is the smartest thing we could do. The QB class is not great. If we hold off a year we may struggle offensively next year. However, there may be better options the following year at QB. And if we pick up an offensive weapon like Cooper in a trade back; we may not struggle as bad as we think.

I am not saying take Cooper. I am saying we should heavily consider a trade back as a win, if for the proper amount of compensation. We should definitely let everyone know that the #2 pick is available via trade.

As I see it, if the Bucs take Mariota the trade value of our #2 pick goes out the window. The Jets aren't taking another "running QB", the same as we are not taking Winston. It just isn't going to happen. Even if there was a team interested in Winston, why would they trade with us rather than let us pick somebody else and trade with the next likely person to take Winston.

As much as I'd like the Jets to trade us something, it isn't going to happen. We are going to be stuck with a #2 pick when there really isn't top 5 talent if this was a different year. There just aren't any standouts.

Amari Cooper is about the only standout and he'd be top 12-15 in any other year. We'd just be best off to take him IMO because he is as much as sure thing as this draft class offers.
