You guys all know that if the Titans trade for Cutler (or another high-paid QB) it means they know Mett will never be the starter, right?

A 6th round rookie is our savior? Is that how low the titans have become? Cutler contract is easily to get out of after 2 years enough, so it does not mean the end of mett or a rookie quarterback.

i think the confidence in drafting Marriota is gone because of RG3,
I think the confidence with players like Marriota is gone because of RG3, VY, Manziel, Manuel, Russell. Really the only two that have panned out are Wilson (genius coach) and Newton (just a freak.)

If real, this could very well be a play for more fans, specifically the Vandy fans even though they are a small demographic. If so, they should be thinking more Manning as a minority owner than Cutler as our QB. Only a brain dead moron could not see how highly regarded Peyton is in TN compared to Cutler.

Cutler's contract is more than Rodgers's, Wilson's, Newton's, Luck's and Sanchez's all combined. How did that douche get that kind of money?? This is why NFL fans can't have nice things.
The only thing that would make sense about Cutler in Nashville is that he would be continuing his tradition of never playing on a winning team.

If you never watch the Bears play and just look at his numbers, he looks pretty good. 28 TD's to 18 picks isn't great but you'd guess he'd end up with at least 30 TD's which we havent had in quite a while. And an 89 QB rating is pretty good!

So what's the problem? Playing QB isn't ONLY about stats or the Bears wouldn't have BENCHED Cutler this weekend. Did they Bench him for a trade? I seriously doubt it!

Anyone who has followed the circus that is the QB-OC-HC dysfunctional relationship knows there is a major problem. When the OC is calling out his own $15mil/yr QB, you know it's bad! Cutler apparently, perhaps to spite his coaches, refuses to check out of bad running plays. He has as good of a surrounding cast as he can have in Alshon, Marshall, Bennett and Forte. And for all of that, he's put up solid numbers? For all that he made more than Manning and Brady?

Mike and Mike were talking about how Herm Edwards was saying the problem is he is in a passing system and he should be throwing a lot less to 'protect' him from throwing so many picks. This begs the question that if you need to surround him with a strong OL, Run game to carry the offense and still have great outside weapons for him to throw to, why the heck would I pay him 15-20mil a year?

I think Mettenberger needs a lot of those things or at least a good-great OL and some better weapons and he can give Cutler at least a run for his money.

I think his benching is 2-fold. First, he's not playing well and second, his contract! During this year, since he was on the roster after a certain date, his 2014 AND 2015 contracts are fully guaranteed. On March 12th next year, $10mil of his 2016 (2 years from now) contract becomes guaranteed. So what does that mean? If you traded a pack of bubble gum for Cutler, you owe him (guaranteed)$15.5mil next year and since it's guaranteed, it's his cap hit as well. And in March 12, you'll owe him another $10mil for the 2016 season even BEFORE the 2015 has started.

What this means to the Bears is that IF they want to cut or trade him, he can't get hurt for a long time. If he were to get hurt and still be injured March 12, 2015, they'd owe him $25.5mil because they can't cut or trade him while he's injured.

So he's not being benched so any immediate trade deal is going down. More likely, they want to keep their options open as Chicago is likely to clean house with GM and Coaching staff which would allow the next GM and coaching staff the option of getting rid of Cutler or keeping him.

And this was widely discussed in NY considering the Jets are likely to pick out of the top 2 picks in the draft and yet NEED a QB. For a bad team in desperate need of a QB, most agree they don't want Cutler who happens to lead the league in turnovers at QB while simultaneously having the largest cap hit at QB!!! All that only 1 year into a 7 yr giant contract! Impressive!!! [sarcasm off]

People on the old TOMB would drop dead to see me post this... But bring on Cutler w/ a reworked contract.

Ive been against getting Cutler up until now. Its a perfect scenario. He comes and competes against mett. We solve our gapping holes on D with our draft and fa.

We cant lose in this situation. Unless they believe mariota is the next great thing i say lets do it.

Misleading. The guy signing the large contract will always have the biggest cash/cap hit the first year. Brady and Manning got most of their money upfront so their base salaries are smaller since most big QB contracts pay a lot the first year or so. This was Cutler's first year in his 7yr deal so he not only got his signing bonus, but a guarantee for 2014 AND 2015 salaries! OUCH!!!

I agree. I want a pass rusher, but I think they will go Offense no doubt.
