There are no Sure Things at any position. There are way more Derrick Harveys and Clowneys than there are Strahans.

way more Warmacks than Bruce Matthews.

QB is a real team changer, if you hit it. With one of the best DEs of our generation, the Texans are still a mediocre to poor team.

Last night I was totally against it. Earlier today, I didn't like the idea. But now? It wouldn't be the worst move. Cutler can be a short term fix while we address the many other areas. Cutler seems like a Whiz guy anyway, Mett could stand to take another year to learn and develop, and even though I like Mariota Cutler is a less riskier play. Then in a couple years we hand the keys over to Mett or draft the guy that may be a better fit.

I don't like the idea of thinking trading for a 32 year old QB is going to fix a team on the way to a 2-14 record but Cutler is a solid player who needs a change of scenery, a healthy OL with another patch will go a long way, a top 3 pick on defense can be a game changer, and maybe Webster will actually sign a couple quality free agents this time around. It's a safer play than risking a top pick on Mariota and go through growing pains for a couple more years at least.

trading for him with the ludicrous contract he has would be an epic mistake. After he's cut... sure. Give him a few million and see.. but no way, with his current contract. Bears should have to pay the Titans to take on that contract.

The head coach at Chicago will be fired right after the season is over with. The new coach will be asked if he wants Cutler or not so don't look for anything to happen until a new coach is in Chicago

I would assume the Bears would eat some of his contract. Trading for him straight up wouldn't be the best move. Especially if we're giving up a mid round pick.

I don't think trades can be made until the draft anyway.

Agreed, I don't think anyone will trade for him. They will wait for him to be cut. The Bears are realizing how handicapped they are with that huge contract. At least they would be willing to take that cap hit right off the bat.

but Cutler can be cut and that is when someone will pick him up IF the new head coach doesn't want him

Perhaps if he comes cheap. I am holding out hope that after having started several games he will know what to work on and come out swinging in 15

Seeing how Mett prepares during the offseason will be a big indicator.
