Well, I do know that they offered him an obscene amount of money wich opens up a huge can of worms regarding the role of colleges and universities and the costs of attending them, but it seems like I'd been hearing rumors of Harbaugh being a lousy coach so it made no sense to me.

    The 49ers really screwed up.

First, they moved out of the Bay Area to their new stadium in Santa Clara(Silicon Valley) where nobody even likes football so it totally alienated their true classic fanbase.

Second, they kept drinking the cool-aid with Kaepernick and basically let him do anything he wanted except be accountable for play on the field, they were too busy trying to ride the "Cool Bus" and get by on his "Popularity" instead of the hard nosed football that got them back on the map.

By doing this, they made Harbaugh out to be the bad guy all season long, so I don't blame him for leaving at all.

Correction: They had two bad seasons.

The 8-8 record may not look so bad last year, but they were still awful for the most part. Trestman was HORRIBLE.

Trestman probably had a three year deal. So a one year buyout is nothing. We did that with Munch. But a four year buyout is not a very realistic option.

I'll give you that. Trestman was a bad hire since day 1, go back to the CFL.

No. They both run a 3-4 lol...

I don't want Rob, but I would love Rex. I still like Horton despite this awful display we've seen, but Rex is undeniably the better option of the two.

Rex does live in Nashville, but I still don't see us firing Horton.

To be fair, what Trestman did with that team was pretty good, their Defense has been the bottom 5 in the league the last 4 years, and he almost got the team to the playoffs last year with Josh McCown, which says more about Trestman than when Cutler played. Cutler the coach killer.

I think Horton and Whiz have a pretty good relationship and so Rex wouldn't be an option. Rob is a loose cannon. I don't want that guy near my team. I just don't see a situation where Rex joins the team. He could still get a HC job or a DC job.

What teams are looking is the question. 49ers?

    Uhhh what?

    Bears defense before Trestman:
    2012 - 5th
    2011 - 17th
    2010 - 9th

    Bears defense with Trestman:
    2014 - 30th
    2013 - 30th

Trestman was an offensive-minded, QB friendly coach. That's why McCown did so well. I suggested last year that since McCown did so well (better than Cutler) in that system that the Bears let Cutler walk, stick with McCown short term while they use the money they blew on Cutler to improve the rest of the team. I'm sure they wished they had done that right about now.
