    It's pretty sad that our team is so awful there's a million and one ways we could head as a franchise. Now is the year that we can decide how to rebuild this franchise. We've torn it down to its core and we get to decide if we want a run-first, pass-first, well balanced, heavy offensive, dominant run-D, dominant pass-D, balanced-D, etc. Our #1 issue is we lack an identity. Look at every good team in the league... Packers: dominant pass-O, Seahawks: dominant pass-D, etc. It's our turn to decide where to go.

    To me there's three options. #1: Bank on Mett and build a dominant offense around him. #2: Gamble on Winston/Mariota that they turn into an elite QB. #3: Build an unstoppable defense, but leaves the offense average. This is the year we need to decide our identity. Later drafts will be able fill other needs, this year needs to decide who we are.

    1. We could go offensive heavy in draft and take Cooper Rd 1 and Melvin Gordon Rd 2. Imagine if Cooper was an Odell Beckham Jr his rookie year with Melvin Gordon turning into a mix of Eddie Lacy and Jamaal Charles. Pair them up with Wright & Walker and we have a ton of playmakers on offense.
    2. We could draft Mariota or Winston with #2. Basically putting all our eggs in a basket and hoping we hit gold. If we land a Pro-Bowl level QB, normally everything works out. In the NFL if you have an elite QB, you'll be playing in the playoffs.
    3. We could go defensive heavy and take Leonard Williams #2 overall and follow up with a NT (Danny Shelton?) or OLB in the 2nd. Package with targeting key defensive free agents like Devin McCourty, Dan Williams, Brian Orakpo, Justin Houston, Suh, etc.

    So, where do we even start guys?

    Not feeling comfortable with #2.

    I'm fine with either #1 or #3 option as long as we go after the opposite side in FA.

    We could do option #1 then go after established defensive play-makers in FA
    OR
    We could do option #3 then go after established defensive play-makers in FA.

    Will FA be more heavy with quality offensive or defensive players?

    With the pieces we have in place we look like we're trying to become a pass first team. Either top that off with an elite WR or draft a QB that can escape when the pocket collapses.

    If the offense can find a way to keep drives alive for our defense not to be on the field 70% of the time, they never break down. Drafting a defense before we have offense figured out is a waste of time. I remember the glory days of the Rams, they always made defense an after thought and they did alright for themselves. Mike Matrz was also an effective playcaller, something Whisenhunt has shown no talent for, but thats another thing all together, without the pieces no coach can do good, our offense sucks!

    I posted this in another thread, but wanted it to get some attention. Here's the identity I want. It's a heavy running offense with Gordon/Sankey, lots of 2 TE sets, but with the ability to still win games by passing. Paired up with a physical and athletic defense.

    Our identity is non existent, or our identity is "suck" take your pick.

    This seems as good a place as any to give some of my current thoughts on how I'd like the Titans to proceed (opinion could change obviously, just some current thoughts)...

    I'd like to see us try a high dollar free agent acquisition on offense. Otherwise, we have invested a lot in the offense via free agents and draft picks recently. If we could get some marquee player acquisition on O, that might help the other weapons (if you can call any of our players weapons).

    So I'd like to see a youth movement on D and focus heavy drafting on Defense this year. We seem SO out matched on D that I'd like to see younger guys and hopefully find a few that can stick long term.

    Demaryius Thomas could really help us, but what are the chances Denver passes on that guy.... Same for Dez Bryant in Dallas. Dame it would be nice to get a legit #1 on the outside.

    Well, if we were going to finally change things up it would be this off season. The Free Agency pool is possibly the most talented we've seen, we have the #2 pick, and there are 2 top QBs so if we trade down we could possibly get a king's ransom.

    The first option seems the easiest and quickest to accomplish. We could almost pull it off just in the draft. Cooper in the 1st obviously (hopefully after trading back), a top RB in the 2nd or 3rd, an OG/C somewhere in there, and Jalston Fowler in the 6th/7th. Convince Roos to come back at RT, bring in more OL depth, and we could get Ryan Mathews for cheap and is someone who is familiar with if we don't go RB early. Just getting healthy will be a huge step forward and Mett will have his 2nd year coming up after his ACL surgery so he should be stronger than ever.

    Defense is a bit more challenging, this is where our cap room plays a big factor.
