Webster Job - Review

I'm ready to write off Brown.

 

I'm pretty sure Brown is a bust where he was drafted......His attitude pure sucks as well.

 

Not everyone agrees, but I believe it has been pretty strongly established that Webster failed in the two key areas of being a GM:

1) free agency
2) draft

Weirdly, I haven't really seen anyone criticize him for a third critical failure:

3) hiring a coach

Seems like we all hate Whisenhunt, yet no one blames the guy who hired him and gave him a lucrative 5-year contract.

So if Webster is bad at finding quality free agents (and massively overpays bad ones), is bad at finding impact players in the draft and just screwed this team by hiring a crappy head coach... how the hell does he still have a job?

It boggles the mind, guys.

 

If Webster goes defense with the #2 pick, he just took care of the 50% chance of screwing up the pick.

 

Dont blame you, but theres still hope for the guy.

Here's how the interview with Whisenhunt went. (I totally am pulling this out of my ass but its sounds about right)

Ring Ring - Whisenhunt: "Hello"
Webster: "yes Ken Whisenhunt, this is the Titans GM Ruston Webster"
Whiz: "who?"
Webster: "this is the Titans GM Ruston Webster", "your guys said I could call you for our HC position."
Whiz: "ahh yes the Titans job."
Webster: "So would you care for a formal interview?"
Whiz: "well to be honest Im being looked at for the Lions job."
Webster: "Detroit huh, well what if I gave you an extra mil to come here and not get car jacked?"
Whiz: "$1M to not get robbed?
Webster: "yea thats right. We can tap into Tommy Smiths lunch money."
Whiz: "Will Kurt Warner be there?"
Webster: "No, Kurt Warner will not be here."
Whiz: "Well then IDK how Im going to win you many games"
Webster: "Thats alright, I have an idea."
Webster: "We'll lose out in 2014 so we can lead the way in the draft."
Whiz: "You want me to throw games?"
Webster: "No worries, no one in Nashville would ever dare hold us accountable, we'll have free reign to do as we please, ol Tommy boy will never know the difference.
Whiz: "But what about the fans?"
Webster: "Unfortunately they'll just have to bend over and deal with it, I know whats best for those fans."
Whiz: "Are your sure about this?"
Webster: "What could go wrong, they allowed Jeff Fisher 17 years."
Whiz: "Good point, lets do it."
Webster: "Theres just one issue, Jake Locker."
Whiz: "Your little cousin from Seattle?"
Webster: "Thats the one." "He's just too honest a guy, he'll never go for it."
Whiz: "Doesn't he get hurt often?" As soon as he gets hurt we'll just go with the back-up."
Webster: "IDK, Ryan Fitzpatrick sometimes wins games."
Whiz: Fitzpatrick? No, Charlie Whitehurst."
Webster: "Charlie Whitehurst eh.... Yea I think we could make that happen."

Ring Ring Ryan Fitzpatrick: "Hello."
Webster: "Yea Ryan, um how should I put this... Youre fired.
Fitzpatrick: "Thank God."

Ring Ring Fitzpatrick's Mom: "Hello"
FitzpatrickL: "Mom Tennessee released me!"
Fitzpatrick's Mom:"Oh honey are you alright?"
Fitzpatrick: "Mom TN is terrible, this is good news."
Fitzpatrick's Mom: "But what if you land in Oakland or Houston?"
Fitzpatrick: "Still better."

Then of course 2014 plays out and Ryan Fitzpatrick is the winner. But not next year when this plot begins to unfold and pay off.

 

Not only that he was promoted to ZVP

He referenced he wrote the article after he had appeared earlier that day on his show.

Webster was promoted to VP of PLAYER personnel to assist Reinfeldt in ...........PLAYER PERSONNEL. He has had his hand in decisions regarding PLAYER PERSONNEL. for 5 years.

 

Yea but like many have mentioned, the buc stops with the GM. It is ultimately the GM's decision. Let's not be hypocritical now.
